Had to go to Chili's to heal from this. My heart was truly broken by this experience. However, the folks at Chili's are helping me recover with vodka and appetizers.

We went to Applebee's in Santa Fe while visiting from California. We went before 6 pm to take advantage of their discounts on drinks and appetizers. We are vegetarian, so we ended up ordering the 2 entrees for $25, which came with an appetizer + the 2 entrees. What a deal! We ordered two 20 oz draught beers for $6 and $7, an order of beer pub pretzels and cheese dip, 2 house side salads, an Impossible cheeseburger, a Chinese grilled chicken salad (minus the chicken), and a kid's Mac and cheese with a side of yogurt and strawberries. The beers really hit the spot after a long day of hiking and sight-seeing. The pretzels tasted so good with the sea salt, beer cheese and ranch dips. My Impossible burger was to die for! All the toppings were fresh and the bun was perfectly toasted, yet still moist. I got it with a side of fries. My wife ordered the Chinese chicken salad (minus the chicken), and aside from it being a bit overdressed, she liked it very much. My son nearly finished his max and cheese and devoured the yogurt and berries, too. That was a lot of food for 3 people, and it was very reasonably priced, too. Applebee's does a good job keeping the price of dining out reasonable for families, and we appreciate that. I highly recommend you try Applebee's again if you haven't been for a while. Their food is very good, and their service is good, too. Check out the photos of our meal. Vegetarian options: There are dishes and appetizers made vegetarian and labeled as such. They have an Impossible burger, and you can substitute an Impossible patty in any burger for $1.99 extra. Any salad can be made without the chicken to make it vegetarian. Most of their pasta can also be made without the protein. Kid-friendliness: They have a full kids menu with a burger, quesadilla, mac and cheese, and a cheese pizza.

It's a prelude to this is that this is no judgement on people working at Applebee's, sounds like Applebee's literally couldn't care less as a company about anything service related. Also: It's Applebee's \_()_/ Do you want to go somewhere where they never have the appetizer you're looking for, even after eight visits? Do you want company policies that make it to where showing up at 8:50 and 9:00 is when happy hour starts, they won't give you the discount until you order after that? Do you want mid-tier food for a price that is not even decent food standard? Look no further than Applebee's. In a town where the Chili's is at what a traditional Applebee's experience normally is, our Applebee's really sets the bar. The food is okay, the drinks are weak, and they never have anything you're asking for, and the server that's got like 3 of the 9 tables in the house is never able to be found. I don't blame the servers and the people who work there because Applebee's sounds like a hellish company to work for. Applebee's corporate, you're dog water and it really trickles down the bowl to your consumer base. What I will say is you could take your $60 to anywhere in town to go get a meal for two with drinks and entrees and have a far better experience. However, if you're cool with just vibing for okay food and looking for something quick and easy and it supports some local twenty something you tip really well, do that. Just tip your servers, if you can't afford a tip, go cook something better at home for your person and get the bang for your buck without stiffing someone working their max hours a week while not being able to pay bills. Side note- their breadsticks that come with the Caesar salad are way better than Olive gardens and I don't know what they did, but that's the one thing that Applebee's corporate has done okay.
