Chris Gallegos (Angler Management) took us out on a beautiful, cool November morning. The river was beautiful at the peak of Fall color, and with the Oreo and coaching Chris provided, we had the fun of catching and documenting the experience with photos! Chris has great stories and he seems to know every nook of the river, not to mention some pretty entertaining interactions with some of the folks we met along the way! Thanks for a great experience Chris!! Look forward to booking with you next year!!

Chris is all you can hope for in a fly fishing guide on the San Juan. He studies the river-- intensely-- and has made it his goal to know how to explain it to the experienced, or like me, the inexperienced. I learned so much with him. I'm grateful for his sharing of his expertise. He explained it well for me, a total novice on only my second day of fly fishing ever. If I didn't understand, he explained it a new way. Professionally speaking, I am also a teacher, and I understand sometimes you need to explain or show things in new ways to communicate a new technique. He embodies this as he is a lifetime learner himself. I can't recommend Chris highly enough. He's the one. Look no further. Worth every penny!

During the last 20 years I have fished with three other good guides on the San Juan River. I met Chris Gallegos by chance a few years back when the guide that I was scheduled with didn't show and Chris took me out. It has definitively been my good fortune! Chris is the best! I don't get to fish a lot so, when I do get to the San Juan I'm always a little rusty. Chris has always been patient with affirming and polishing my good skills, correcting my bad technique and teaching me new skills and methods. Chris's knowledge of the San Juan River reflects his commitment to achieving a better understanding of the river and the ecosystem to provide a quality experience for his clients and you learn something for your next trip. Chris 's concern for the health and safe handling of the fish is commendable. I'm not as agile as I used to be and don't move as fast but, Chris is always patient with me as I traverse the river. If we float, Chris will row back upstream to work a different part of a successful hole. If the fish don't bite, Chris will tie on different flies until he finds what the fish want. Chris always supplies a quality lunch and plenty of water and stops by your cabin the night before to check on you before you leave the next morning. I schedule my trip based on Chris's availability and drive two days and eleven hundred miles one way to fish with Chris. You can't go wrong with Chris Gallegos! While we cant remember exactly how many years ago we first met Chris (maybe nine or ten?), we will never forget that first meeting on the San Juan River and, from that moment, we have maintained a good friendship and regular fishing adventures with Chris. My husband first met Chris on the river. If I remember correctly, Chris was tying on a fly at the back of his truck and they struck up a conversation. My husband was so impressed at how knowledgeable Chris was of the river, trout patterns and every aspect of fly fishing. Chris showed Jason some of the flies he had tied and, as testament to his generous nature, he gave Jason several flies to try (the Desert Storm is still one of my all-time faves - a specialty of Chris). From that point forward, weve met up with Chris on our annual trips to the San Juan River and, even when our trips are impromptu and he doesnt know were there until the moment we arrive, he always makes time to spend at least a 1/2 day fishing with us - and thats saying a lot, as he is (in our opinion) the VERY BEST GUIDE ON THE RIVER. Hes always busy with guided trips (floating and wading) but, again, always makes time for friends. We do OK when we fish on our own during these annual week-long trips, but we always have a ton more fun and catch more/bigger fish when were with Chris. He is by far the best and, to top it all off, has a heart of gold. Great, great guy. Book a trip!
