In Three Words: UNPROFESSIONAL, UNTIMELY, & DISRESPECTFUL Long Story Short: Gregg believes he shouldn't have any competition and that you should be willing to pay whatever he wants you to pay regardless of the average price of the industry. He wants you to trust him without earning that trust & will change his attitude with you on the drop of the dime like a child. The Experience: I called and was told I needed to talk to Gregg to get an estimate for a demolition and removal project. So I sent Gregg all the information he requested and he said he'd email me. I called him back about a week later to follow up on the estimate, as I hadn't received anything from him. Gregg told me he had nothing for me. So I asked him when I could expect something because I am looking to get the job done soon and I already have a few other estimates that have come in. This is when Gregg became completely disinterested in working with me. He told me he wasn't going to send me anything and that he wasn't interested because I shouldn't be getting multiple estimates. In his words "I've never had anyone do that in my 30 years of business". Shocking right? I told him I didn't mean to offend him I was just being honest as I am not familiar with the industry and the average price of this type of job, so of course I would want to do my research and "price shop" before choosing a quality & reasonably priced provider. He told me I was being disrespectful by price shopping and that those are "dirty words". He told me I was being ridiculous and that isn't how business should be conducted, that I should just trust him and not get estimates from multiple places because that's not how business works in his world. This completely shocked me and showed me he is obviously afraid of his competition and that he is likely not providing fair prices. Surely he's had to knowingly bid against his competition some time in his 30 years of experience? If so I can't imagine he's won any of those bids, so maybe I just hit a sensitive spot. Either way I'm glad his premature outburst saved me the trouble of doing business with this unreasonable person.
