No car alarms. Just interlock service. Waste of time/gas.

I went to Hi Tech last April to have an alarm installed on my 2016 Honda Fit since someone had broken into my car and stole a radar detector and vandalized the interior of the car. The price for the alarm and installation could not be beat by anyone else in Albuquerque. It did take many hours to install the alarm, and it's not something I would recommend you wait for. I was never really happy with the alarm since it didn't seem to perform the way it should. I could rock the car violently, and the alarm would not go off. After 6 months, I decided to return to Hi Tech (first week of October 2018) to inform them that I was not happy with the alarm and to see if they could install a motion sensor to make it more effective. After some discussion, they told me they cannot install the sensor and that I should go to Cash & Carry Electronics to see if they could do that kind of installation. I went to C&C, and after listening to my complaint and idea of installing a motion sensor, the guy there took a look at my car and the installation Hi Tech had done. He told me that a motion detector would not be effective in correcting the problem I was having and that a level sensor might be more appropriate. He also told me that Hi Tech had installed the alarm module/shock sensor wrong in that they had screwed it onto a metal surface when it should have been installed to a wire loom so it could better detect any motion applied to the car. He told that it even says in the installation instructions for the alarm (Avital 3100LX) that the sensor should not be attached to a sold metal surface and should be attached to a wire loom, which I did verify by downloading the installation instructions for the alarm from the internet. He told me he could reposition the sensor and install the level sensor for about $65.00. Since it was a Friday afternoon, I told him I would contact Hi Tech about this and get back to him the next week sometime. Over the weekend, I decided that instead of contacting Hi Tech I would just have C&C reposition the sensor without adding a level sensor to see if that corrected the problem. I went back to C&C on the next weekday to have them reposition the shock sensor, which they did for me at a cost of $25.00. After picking up the car and testing it for several days, I was amazed by the difference. The alarm now works as it should and as one would expect it to. In fact, I even had to reduce the sensitivity of the shock sensor so the alarm would not go off when a motorcycle or a car with a loud muffler went by. My advice, if you are going to get an alarm from Hi Tech, is to make sure the installers at Hi Tech are aware that you want the shock sensor/module installed to a wire loom rather than bolted to a metal surface. The Avital alarms they install are excellent and work for what anyone in Albuquerque would need one for, but in order to work as they were designed, they must be installed correctly to be effective.
