Pat (DADS) was my lifeline 28 years ago when I was 19 and hit with a full custody request by her mother using one of the best attorneys at that time. Pat quickly put me in the right direction as I represented myself when I was completely broke. He made sure I did not miss the deadline to reply, helped me get a copy of the Station Statute, and taught me some on how everything worked. On one of my filings at the clerks office, the lady asked me in great surprise, "you are representing yourself!?" I told her 'yes'. She then said she had never seen a response/motion filed by someone representing themselves written so well. (Hint: I copied her attorney's verbiage but reversed it to be from me with my requests!) By the time my daughter was in high school, she was deciding how often to see me. I had to FIGHT for literally every minute with her, but it was WORTH it!! The younger your kids are, the more time with you they need. The older they are, the more valuable/intentional time they need even if not quite as frequent. My daughter is now 28, married, and just finished Medical School. She did well despite the imperfect upbringing she had from her parents. Kids have some room for mistakes, just minimize them!! My daughter has since even told me how grateful she is that I fought to have time with her. Her mom and I get along now (since my daughter started high school). She knew I loved her by the time I spent with her. When I was prevented from seeing her, I sent her notes regularly and asked her if she got them when it was my court-ordered time to call. She said no for the first three or four then excitedly told me she got my letter as soon as she picked up the phone around the fourth of fifth call after I started sending notes. (Her mom figured out I was going to keep sending and asking). Also, I always spoke highly of her mom! I did not lie to my daughter, but made an reasonable excuse if needed to ensure she always had respect for her and would find ways to compliment her mother to her. Thank you Pat!!

Fired my attorney so that I could speak with them about my case. After speaking with them about my case. I find out it it's not really interested in anything other than helping with custody. anything bigger than custody dispute is not where their interest is.
