The Squire at Branches

I had a day off and could finally make it to happy hour. I know that if you wait too long you can't even find a seat which, from the looks of the parking lot, I wasn't going to find a seat. The food food is excellent, happy hour has great apps and good drinks for a decent price. I like the bartenders because they make sure that you are well taken care of and check back often to see what you need. I typically don't have any complaints about this place. But today I walked in the door and all I could smell was ammonia. I don't know if they mopped their floors right before they opened or what the deal was. The bathrooms did NOT smell like ammonia but the whole bar and restaurant area did. I wanted to smell and eat their delicious food. I couldn't even stay there which was so disappointing. I walked right back out. Parking: There's a very large parking lot but it can fill up quickly especially since the other side of The Squire is Branches which is a catering facility. When they have an event going on it is hard to get parking. On top of that is sort of a long walk from the parking lot to the entrance of The Squire which can be kind of tough on a rainy day There is handicapped parking available. Wheelchair accessibility: There is handicap parking available and there is a ramp going up by the stairs but the walk from the parking lot to the door of The Squire is a little bit of a walk.

Food was excellent (Mac and cheese lobster, scallops, garlic clams), service was with an attitude (from all staff we met) took 2 requests to get my glass of wine. We were asked if we wanted water- sparkling or flat- said flat, and were delivered water that we were charged $8 for... i would go back, but would take my own attitude with me. Some minor changes in staff attitude could make this a fabulous more enjoyable place to go to.

My first experience at the Squires did not disappoint. The service atmosphere and best pork chop at the Jersey Shore!!! An experience you must have when you visit Monmouth County. EXCELLENT!!!

My ratings on the food and atmosphere were all 5 stars, theres no need to indulge further, it was excellent! However, the service has issues. If I ordered a cocktail at the start and the waiter hasnt checked back by the time my food arrives is odd. When the table is desiring glasses of wine to accompany their delicious meals, I should not have to pause eating and let my food get cold to get up and spend time inquiring about my waiters whereabouts. He ended up being completely absent. Furthermore I should not be met with passive aggressive behavior from the fill-in/substitute waiter, who just made assumptions and brought the previous drinks without checking first. The whole service experience ruined the meal. What irks me more is the blatant passive aggressive behavior, just because I had to inquire about getting drinks to pair with our food. It was unwarranted and frankly immature behavior from the waitstaff.
