My wife and I, along with our 1 year old twins, recently booked a trip during Labor Day Weekend. The Inn @ LBI National was available and the rates were quite reasonable. My wife gets on the phone with a pleasant rep. She mentions it was newly renovated by the same group that renovated Renault Winery. We were already thinking of booking, but she gave her "sales pitch" and she mentioned there were 2 pools onsite* (I'll get into this detail later on). We proceeded to book directly on their site...everything went downhill from there. The confirmation email did not match any of the information we received from the website. The confirmation numbers, the rate and the resort fee all did not match. We called the property and nobody would answer. I left a few VMs and after several days, someone finally got back to us. Someone from Renault reached out, since LBI's calls get transferred over to them. Did LBI not have any staff onsite? We wanted to make sure that our booking was set and everything was the correct. At first they couldn't find us, but they finally located the reservation. We told them about the mismatch and they assured us everything would be all set when we went to check in. The hotel is called LBI National, but it is located in Little Egg Harbor, about 20-30mins from LBI. As I am checking in, I inform them that we would like to change the card on file. Being a new property, they were still working things out, so there were issues when trying to use a different credit card. In addition, they were also having internet outages. After about 15mins, they said they will just write down the card information and charge it when their systems are back online. I also let them know that the rate from the email did not match the booking rate and I informed them of the correct price. They made note of it and we finished checking in. I ask where the 2 pools were and she says she only knows of the 1, which is the outdoor pool next to the lobby. She apologized for the long wait and even mentioned this was her first time checking people in. We get our room keys and proceed to the Inn. You can tell it was newly renovated. It smelled new, the carpets looked fresh and the recessed lighting outside were still not installed. The room itself was gorgeous-medium sized that reminded me of a Vegas style setup. The mini fridge was filled with drinks and there was a snack tray on the desk; both the snacks and drinks were an extra cost. I would've preferred a standard fridge with freezer. Comfy beds, clean room, clean bathroom, it was quite nice. Head over to the pool, which had swipe card access, but ours were not working. We call over the lifeguard and ask if we are at the correct pool for the hotel. She really had no idea what we were talking about, but she let us in. There was hardly anyone there. An older couple reading a newspaper and a lady with her granddaughter...let's just call her Karen. They were already leaving as we arrived. My wife and I get in the pool with our kids, and Karen just shakes her head and just keeps giving us nasty looks. She goes to the lifeguard to complain about us and we already know we were about to be kicked out. The lifeguard comes over and asks us to leave. Since the property is shared with a 55+ community, I believe the pool is only for those residents. We were told there was a pool for the hotel, but I guess that was not the case. We were just minding our own business and they were leaving, but she had to complain anyway. We inform the hotel, but the staff did not know if we were or were not allowed to use to pool. The onsite manager said he would call his manager and we should expect a call back...this never happened. Overall, it is a great looking hotel and the room was quite nice. My wife and I feel they just weren't fully prepared for guests yet. Please let your guests know there is no pool available for use, unless something is worked out with the 55 and older community. That was a selling point for us and without it, we probably would've booked elsewhere. Noteworthy details: Since my main review was too long, figure I would add my thoughts here... We go to turn on the TV and there was nothing. We call the front desk to let them know and they said they are aware of the issue and that the internet was down. Unable to use the pool and now no TV, my kids were starting to get a little antsy and we were all frustrated at this point. To make matters even worse, my wife gets an alert for the hotel charge of over $500. We had to go back to the lobby once again and let them know they over charged us. After waiting another 20mins, they finally resolved issue and charged us correctly.
