        My father was a parishioner for 50 years at St. Justin's. 1973 - 2023. He passed in December. I called on a Friday to make the church aware of his passing. No call back. No call over the weekend. No call the following week. No offer of condolences at all. My father was a loyal attendee. Gave thousands to the church over the course of his life. And, his passing didn't warrant a simple phone call to my mom. Even the funeral parlor tried to make contact with the church. I found the church's failure to respond very unfortunate given how much the church meant to dad.

      Our pastor sent the following letter to your family at the address we have on file. Our sincere apologies. "It has come to my attention that your dear husband and father, Joseph passed away on December 8, 2023. I extend my condolences to you and your family on your loss. Brian recently posted that the parish of St Justin never acknowledged your loss. I apologize for this. I, myself, was not in the parish at the time since I was recovering from surgery. Also, since there was not a funeral Mass, Ryan Funeral Home never contacted the parish. They often, when families opt not to have a Mass, call retired priests or others to conduct services. In my absence, there were priests covering funerals and Masses. Had Ryan Funeral Home called the parish office, one of those priests or even one of our deacons would have covered the service at St. Joseph Cemetery. Once again, my sincere apologies. I have enclosed a Mass card. Joseph will be remembered at Mass on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at 8:00 am. May God be with you during this difficult time".
