My total was $11.00. I handed the clerk a $20 bill. She said she couldn't make change for that. She then explained "there's a shortage of cash at the banks right now we can't get cash."
This is the most nonsensical thing I've heard in a long time. Anyone who's even been paying remote attention to the current economic environment and fiscal/monetary policy knows that the entire US system is awash in cash.
