If i could give it negative or zero stars i would. When we got the apartment keys, we checked every corner inside out and took pictures, we got the apartment looking nasty and disgusting. the stove and oven were greasy and the dryer and machine had specks of dirt in it. bathroom had black mildew on it, we cleaned the apartment before we moved our stuff. the ladies in the office are just nasty, plain rude and have so much attitude for what? if your life is so miserable get a different job or retire. If you want to be treated with respect then you have to treat others with respect. They cut a huge amount from our security deposit stating we did not clean certain parts which is incorrect, How much can one person scrub and the cleaning requirements they have for when you end the lease are just ridiculous. if we have to be the ones to clean then what do you have a cleaning service come for? just pathetic. I would not recommend this place long term. Keep it short until you find a better place. whoever the main person is for the community. you need to evaluate the apartments before they all burn down. All the units in the system are soo old and hazardous no wonder two buildings caught on fire. They need to be maintained but are not. the worse is the AC unit. has anyone even tried to remove the unit from the wall? don't! it is absolutely disgusting. so what expectations do they have from us when they ask us to clean before we hand over the keys? they don't even give it to us brand new. anyways I could say more and more but i wont. please do not stay here long term.

My stay at Colony Oaks North Brunswick for the past two years has been quite disappointing, especially when it came time to move out. Despite making sure everything was spotless and following all the rules, the leasing office decided to take a big chunk out of my security deposit, claiming damages that I had already fixed. To make matters worse, the lady in the leasing office, whose name I won't mention, was incredibly rude throughout the whole process & our stay. I want to be clearI went above and beyond to clean the place before giving back the keys. From the kitchen walls and cabinets to the stove, dining room floor, tub, and tiles, I made sure everything was in top condition. Despite being a responsible tenant who always paid rent on time, the way I was treated during the move-out process was really upsetting. Moving out is supposed to be a smooth process, but my experience at Colony Oaks North Brunswick was far from it. The leasing office should be helpful and understanding, but instead, it added unnecessary stress and took more money than it should have. I'm sharing sharing this so others can know what to expect. It's essential to make informed decisions when choosing a place to live, and I hope my experience helps others avoid the problems I faced at Colony Oaks North Brunswick.

The worst place you can live. They need to fire the ladies in the leasing office asap. Left the apartment after 3 years and they cut a massive chunk off my security deposit for damages and cleaning even though o cleaned every single corner before leaving.. Stay away

FINAL UPDATE: I recently moved out of the complex. The office manager is kind enough to provide a cleaning & move out checklist so you know exactly what they're checking and looking to have cleaned upon your departure. It was very useful and I was able to get my full deposit back as a result. Overall, I had a pleasant time living in this community, but certainly relish the new-found quiet atmosphere of my new apartment across town. This will certainly be hit-or-miss based on what neighbors you have. Ultimately, my decision to move came from the need to have an additional office space (remote work), a more quiet atmosphere, and the need for additional storage space. (I do notice another recent reviewer had a negative move out experience. I am not discounting their experience at all, and encourage future tenants to weigh this negative possibility as their potential experience!) UPDATE: Approaching 2 years of living at Colony Oaks - overall it's been a good experience. I would recommend living here as long as you manage your expectations. (please keep in mind I lived in one of the recently renovated units) I've took it upon myself to do some very basic maintenance in the apartment because it seems that the property management limits what the maintenance guys can do to help. To be clear, the maintenance crew is very kind, helpful, and handy - love them! - they just don't seem to have the permissions to do more than slap a temporary fix onto whatever the problem is. The aforementioned emergency shut off valve in the bathroom finally gave way after 6 months and began to flood the bathroom. Luckily I was home that day and was able to shove a bucket under the leak before it flooded my place and the downstairs neighbors. Maintenance was able to fix this time around. I've chosen to put in a window unit AC because the black mold in the wall units was never addressed and they refused to replace the wall unit since 'it cools just fine'. I had an appliance professional come by to clean out the washer from mold and it has held up. No mold flakes have tainted my just-washed clothing since I took care of it myself. It seems that the 'messy' neighbors have moved out of my building, so there's no longer trash all over the building courtyard. Regardless, the maintenance crew does put in effort to clean the outdoor common spaces often. The rest of the original review still stands accurate. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Such mixed feelings about this place after living here for 8 months... Pros: - The apartment is extremely spacious - Generally convenient location - close to shopping, restaurants, Turnpike (driving distance - nothing where you can comfortably walk due to very busy streets) - Maintenance team is kind and receptive, though it may take a long while for them to get to your request. Cons: -Shoddy 'renovations'. Our dryer vent emptied into the wall space between the laundry area and bathroom. Dryer lint would fly out from the bathroom vanity. 'New' kitchen cabinets have had their paint chip off from light use. Water emergency shut off valve was broken upon move in (leaking) and maintenances version of fixing it was to install a new handle; Still broken and leaking. Both AC units full of mold. Clothes washer full of mold. - The neighbors. Seriously. When other reviewers say that kids will be running around outside screaming at 11pm, they're not kidding. (Edit: I want to be clear, I'm not some crotchety child-hating person. I know and understand kids will be loud when they play and thats ok!) Loose trash is common in the courtyards and stairwells. Maintenance will go through the areas and pick up 1-2 times a week. - Apparently, they find it acceptable to break NJ renter's law and enter apartments to perform routine maintenance (dryer vent cleaning) without 24-hour notice. They sent out emails at 10am same day and maintenance started at 9am....
