        Dr. Shanti was instrumental in saving my life from Stage 4 head & neck / oral cancer. Aside from being a knowledgeable and experienced physician he is a wonderful, sincere and genuinely a compassionate man. There are no words to express my gratitude to Dr. Shanti for saving my life. Id also like to mention that his surgical assistant Amanda Mueller is extremely knowledgeable and like Dr. Shanti is a wonderful, compassionate and truly concerned for her patients.         Dr Shanti and his team are truly amazing , our world was turned upside down with a stage 4 cancer diagnosis , within 6 weeks his team put us on the road to recovery , from the day we met , he explained everything in terms we understood , always taking the time to listen and answer , my gut felt he was our hope and true enough he was , being there before and after surgery , he gave us a great team that we will forever be grateful too , Dr Shanti , Dr Roden , Dr Kim , Amanda , Erica and Tanya , plus many others on team , I can not praise them enough for their life saving care and compassion .

        Doctor Shanti, saved my Sisters life from stage 4 cancer of the mouth. Recently she completed radiation and is still recovering, of course all in God's hands. Rabie Shanti was everything a Doctor should be, knowledgeable, kind, patient, always there, and gave you his ear and his time when you needed it the most. Once I find out how to post a review on his medical profile at Penn Med, I will do the same for him. Thank you Doctor Shanti for coming into our lives.

        My husband had surgery and skin grafting to his head and Dr. Shanti could not have been better. He explained everything in terms we could understand and answered all of our questions. He prepared us for what could happen if it was more serious once surgery had begun. Because of my husbands heart complications he wound up in the ER several times giving complications to his healing process and Dr. Shanti was always able to be reached! I would highly recommend him as a surgeon!

      Dr. Rabie Shanti holds a dual appointment in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Penn Dental Medicine, and the Department of Otorhinolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at Penn Medicine. Dr. Shanti’s clinical expertise includes the evaluation and surgical treatment of tumors of the head and neck, such as, benign tumors of the jaws (e.g., ameloblastoma, myxoma), malignant tumors of the jaws (e.g., osteosarcoma, chondrosarcoma), oral (mouth) cancer, and oropharyngeal (throat) cancer. In addition, Dr. Shanti frequently evaluates and manages advanced inflammatory conditions of the jaws, such as, osteoradionecrosis, and medication related osteonecrosis of the jaw. Dr. Shanti’s clinical practice is also devoted to microvascular reconstructive surgery of the head and neck following oncologic surgery, radiation injury, or trauma. In addition to his clinical activities, Dr. Shanti is involved in both clinical and translational research efforts that aim to enhance the efficacy of current treatment paradigms, as well as in the development of innovative treatment strategies for patients with benign and malignant tumors of the head and neck.
