I want to share an experience I had at the salon. Im a resident in Delran and my work is in Maple Shade. I own a business and my schedule can often be interrupted. In November I had an appointment on Thanksgiving week and was running 10 minutes late. I called to explain that I would be running a couple minutes behind and they told me they were holding a very tight schedule due to the holiday. I told the woman I understood that it was my fault that I was running behind and if I had to miss this appointment, so be it. She went on to explain that although Ive been a client for over two years, she would have to charge me for this as it would be viewed as a missed appointment. I asked her to discuss this with the owner and to explain the situation and to let me know what her final decision would be. After a couple days went by I got a phone call telling me that the owner decided to charge me $67 for the missed appointment fee! She had my American Express on file and ran it accordingly. American Express will allow me to fight this charge. I can get my $67 back if I really want to. Im not doing that. They clearly needed it and knew they risked losing a client over it. In business we are either transactional or we are relationship driven. I do not feel I was appreciated as a customer. In this salon, I was nothing more than a $67 transaction. I honestly thought I was establishing a relationship with those people after having been there every six weeks for 2+ consistent years.
