Influenced by the original 1950s concept at a Tokyo restaurant, Kabenoana – meaning “hole in the wall†– we brought Wafu Italian to you in New York, Miami, and Los Angeles as pastaRAMEN, an invite-only omakase meal in luxe and elusive pop-up settings. Now that we have shown pastaRamen off to the country, we are thrilled to reintroduce the concept as an elegant Italian ramen shop in the streets of Montclair, New Jersey.pastaRAMEN, the first-ever Italian ramen shop, is a perfect marriage of Japanese and Italian culture and cuisine. Service: our waitress was incredible as well as everyone else. They made the experience enjoyable and felt very welcoming!
Food: we got the calamari, chicken katsu bao, and smoked salmon crudo to start. The calamari was delicious in the sauce and the baos paired with the pesto sauce was great! Skip the salmon crudo as it lacked in many ways.
For our primi, we ordered the uni carbonara and the tonkatsu. We were blown away by the flavor of the carbonara and hopefully next time we go there theyll have it again! The tonkatsu was your typical ramen, nothing special to it.
For our secondi, we ordered the NY strip steak and it came out exactly how we wanted!
Overall the food was very good, except for a few items; And would come back again!
