After leaving paris for 2 years Ive been so impressed and happy to return to the states with its friendly and welcoming people, especially in the customer service industry. Yesterday I returned to Long Branch for the second time this week, I was waiting all day for my family to help so I could shop at Charleston shoes kid free . I looked up that they were closed at 6pm so I hurriedly head over at 5:35. From the outside the store looked closed but the door was wide open. However there was a large outdoor plant cart pushed right in the door way. I popped my head in and said hi is it safe to come in. The sales rep immediately rolled her eyes and huffed and said ugh yes but Im in a private fitting. I said Oh okay can we shop? She said I mean if this is the only time you can and you cannot come back another day. I said Im sorry Im from North Carolina and cannot. She again rolled her eyes. I then immediately picked up a pair of shoes that looked cute and said do you have the prices marked somewhere. She said Um Im not a store like that and all my shoes are between 100-150$ so Im not sure that will work for you. My sister who is an executive sales rep for a high end pharma company that specializes in skin care and mother were now mortified and convinced me it wasnt worth it even though I had been patiently waiting and wanting to shop all day. I honestly was so embarrassed and felt like a complete unworthy trespasser. I am fully aware that everyone is entitled to a bad day or a hard time but to take it out on customers in this day and age in customer service industry, is unacceptable and truthfully just unkind. Specifically a woman owned high end shoe store requires a sign on the door that says private fitting or closed early today for personal reasons before ever making a shopper feel this way.
