I never leave reviews but this was excruciating and I dont want someone else to have the same experience. If I was reading this review I wouldnt believe it eitherbut heres my story. I was concerned whether movers would show up as contracted during Independence Day weekend. Selective Vanlines employee Jason B had indicated that the company only does not show up only on Acts of God and would have a 3-day window if a cancellation needed to occur. Keep that in mind. I had called and contracted with Selective Vanlines in mid June. The last time I heard from them was on Friday 7/1 when a woman called about my estimate. It ended up being extensively more expensive than we originally agreed and negotiated. So, my mom was helping me pack up my Toyota Camry as tight as it could get. Did you know patio furniture could fit in a sedan? And I had to sell my mini fridge just so things would fit in the moving truck and not go insanely over budget. I was promised a call from the movers for logistics. I did not receive a phone call as promised on Saturday 7/2. I called the number I had on file with no success. I emailed both reps I had talked with without a response. I tried checking the contract link they sent and it had conveniently expired. At this point I considered getting a U-Haul, but I didnt have a trailer hitch. The moving crew did not come on Sunday 7/3, when my lease was set to expire. I had to make arrangements with family to drive from North Carolina and Kentucky (6 1/2 hours) in contract with UHaul to move out of the apartment. We were waiting all day to hear from Selective Vanlines and didnt hear anything. We had to make an executive decision mid-afternoon that it wasnt happening and they didnt follow their 3-day cancellation policy whatsoever. My family arrived to my apartment about 10 PM to load up. By midnight we were heading to my new destination. The trip was so exhausting we all (2 cars and a Uhaul) stopped in a gas station parking lot at 3 am to sleep for two hours. I followed up trying my hardest to get a refund because they never showed up and I had submitted a $700 deposit. The email addresses I was sending it to became conveniently inactive. When I called the number I had on file, sometimes John M would answer and something would come up claiming to have bad cell reception. And then theyll promise to call me back and IF they did it was during work hours or late at night. They promised to give me a refund but didnt ask for any information or a claim. After all this horrible customer service I decided to submit Selective Vanlines as a fraudulent charge. On August 10 I received a refund. Not from Selective Vanlines, but from my bank because I won the case. In summary they went completely unresponsive and we had to scramble to get everything taken care of. I went days without hearing from them before and after the no-show incident. It was absolutely horrible they handledor didnt attempt to handle my situation. I would be embarrassed if I treated anyone the way they treated me.

Scam, scam, scam. They are a brokerage company, not a moving company. They took our deposit and got scared after the call double checking our inventory 72 hours beforehand. Never made contact again. They did counter our fraud claim to Chase at the last possible minute, twice. We scrambled last minute to accomplish our move on our own. After reading the other reviews it could have been a lot worse. And selective van lines if you are reading this your days of scamming innocent people are numbered.

Id give a zero if I could. This company threatened to auction my belongings, lost several items of value, misquoted me when I over quoted them on what items I had, and for the cherry on top they were not only rude as can be but also changed every number I had to contact them so I couldnt place a claim for my broken and lost items. Id rather have just drove a uhaul myself, it would have been cheaper and way less stress. I hope the people who made my move a living hell do better. An extreme disappointment for anyone wanting to move.

They can and will charge you before they move your things off the truck. So the price is triple than what was quoted. They would not put the bed set together even though it was taken apart at my mothers house by them because they said they did not bring their tools. So they left everything unassembled. Please do not use this company, they are scam artists. The movers were locally contracted guys and one of them yelled at me in my own home because I wanted them to assemble my bedset and one of the other guys got loud with me and walked out. Another one of the movers brought hi s girlfriend and she thought she was going to come in my home and sit down. I saw both of them eyeballing one of my handbags. I asked her to leave and I told the guy that his lady friend is not allowed in my home. The whole thing was uncomfortable and I knew I was being scammed the whole time. Theres really nothing you can do about this. Once your stuff is on the truck they have control and if you want your things you're gonna have to pay them whatever they ask. Best advice is to not use this company. Go with a large company or use a pod to move your stuff. Use a reputable company. Just pay the extra money to use someone reputable. I also needed up with someone elses matrress.
