Garden Preschool Cooperative

Wonderful school! My daughter started it this year. It's the Christmas holidays now, and she says every day, I want teachers!. When I pick her up at 4 pm instead of 6 pm, she doesn't want to leave. Kids love it! As parents, we are very happy with the school, it's very transparent, and every parent is involved in the school life.

Our son was lucky enough to be a part of the Garden PreSchool Cooperative Summer Camp this year and what a school!  The teachers are warm, energetic, knowledgeable on child education and really get to know the children and their individual interests. The parents choose to be very involved in the school which adds a much more personal layer than the sterile drop off/pick up situation you have at most schools. They took Covid very seriously and held all the regulations in high regard; so much so they did not receive a single violation on their recent audit. This is a great institution in Jersey City and one to be celebrated!

Between my two daughters, we have been a part of 4 downtown JC daycares and preschools, and without a doubt, GPC is my favorite experience thus far.  Having the opportunity to take an active, front row seat in my daughters early education is invaluable to me.  Yes, kids need to learn numbers and letters, but they also need to PLAY, learn how to be strong, independent creatures, and how to behave as a part of a community.  GPC is a safe space that nurtures this growth and provides a foundation for not just school, but life. In my opinion, it's the best early learning block we can offer our little ones. Also- the new head teacher, Ms. Ellie, is outstanding and has a deep belief in the Bank Street method.  Recommend highly!

This is the first year our child has been part of GPS. So far, we are very happy with the teachers and teaching style of the school. There is a focus on the emotional well being of the child which is great and a lot of opportunity for child led learning. It has been great being part of the school community and while there is work with the cooperative model, it has been rewarding.
