My daughter had about 4-5 sessions with Heidi. Yesterday, I heard Heidi yelling at my 4 year old and slamming things. When confronted, she blames my daughter for not listening to her and justify's her behavior. The entire day my daughter was traumatized and silent, my daughter refused to go to Heidi for next session. When I communicated this to Heidi, rather than being apologetic, she again says, that my daughter didn't listen to her nor she is practicing at home. My point, my daughter is 4 and to make a young child listen, you should make it fun, not traumatize them. I am not sure, how she is with older kids but she is not a good fit for younger kids as that requires patience and creativity.
I did get the refund, though they said, their policy has no refunds. I am very much interested in seeing the policy, where it is acceptable to traumatize young kids. I don't recommend her as a teacher, given she doesn't have patience to deal with younger kids and tends to snap at them.
Heidi, very disappointing that you would rather lie than accept your mistake. You yelled and slammed things, I did not get very angry with you. I only said, I don't appreciate your tone with my daughter. You are expecting a four year old to be an expert and disciplined. It doesn't happen if you can't keep it fun. My child was traumatized and is scared of you. When I contacted you, you gave me an attitude until I told you that I will report you to BBB.
PARENT'S please BEWARE of her. Not a good instructor and rather than accepting her mistake, she comes down to lying and she has big attitude issue if given feedback! I would NEVER recommend her. There are seasoned and much more compassionate teachers around, please do your due diligence before you hire her! WHEN YOU TELL HER TO CHANGE HER APPROACH, SHE TELLS YOU, "SHE IS A TEACHER" AND EXPECTS STUDENTS TO FOLLOW HER REGIMENT!
From her response you can tell that she is complaining about a 4 year old of not practicing and listening not to mention about lying that, I went ahead and told her that I got similar feedback from others, especially when this was the first time my daughter was taking Piano lessons. And we canceled a second class, where we let her charge us though my daughter had fever! Horrible practice and horrible service. I see her behavior as a warning sign, given she snaps at four year old and expects them to practice and listen to her. If you are a parent and if you have worked with kids, you would know, if you can't catch their attentions, their attentiveness to any subject is very short and yes, they will not practice everyday if they don't want to! I see your experience with kids from your response to my review! I am sad that my daughter had to be traumatized by an inexperience instructor! I am glad it ended now!

Heidi had been teaching in Wongs Music Studio for 2+ years. She is a very nice, patient, but also a very strict teacher. All of her students enjoyed the piano lesson very much. I was so sad that Heidi is not a teacher in my studio anymore. But Im also very pleased to know that shes opening her own piano studio in Jersey City. Wish her the best luck!
