They did a great job on my color and the owner was warm professional and friendly but it was EXTREMELY overpriced and I dont think I would return for that reason. Other than that, wonderful service.

I have been a client of Ritas (the owner of Tousled) for over 20 years, and I cannot say enough positive things about her, her team and the professionalism with which she runs her business. **First: Rita is probably the most talented and consistently excellent colorist I have encountered. She is extremely detail oriented and takes cares with every motion. I am naturally a dark blonde/medium- to light brunette and have been getting blonde high- and low-lights for years. Not only is her work flawless, but few people can even tell that I get my hair colored: it is such a natural compliment to my skin tone, and blends in so beautifully with my natural hair color even when my roots come in. As I have gotten more grays over the years, she has made recommendations to adjust the tone or the color, and the effect is even more phenomenal than I could have expected. And the Aveda product is much gentler for your hair than other color treatments. **Also: My hair is thin and mostly straight with a slight natural wave in certain areas, and Rita is able to navigate these details with ease every time I get a trim or a full cut. My hair always feels fuller and healthier when I leave, and shes done a great job of showing me different ways to style it as I get older and the texture of my hair changes. **Added Bonus: Her staff is kind, thoughtful and super helpful. They truly love their customers, and the simple fact that they have so many who have been clients for years and years is a testament to that. Not to mention.her French bulldog Deion is the adorable and friendly brand mascot who keeps everyone feeling very at home and very taken care of. **Last note: I got married in October 2023 and several guests who had not met my side of the family commented how I was the only blonde in a family of brunettes, and I giggled to myself. If that isnt a reason to have Rita do your hair, I dont know what is!

I went to Rita for a cut and color a week ago and was thrilled with the experience. I absolutely *love* this salon's process of having you submit photos ahead of time- it really helps you communicate all the details that matter you. That said, my final result was even better than the photos. We ended up taking off about 4 inches which might have felt a little nerve wracking normally to me but I really trusted her and she did an excellent job of communicating the whole time. She's so friendly and so was everyone else at the salon. I am excited to go back!

I have had the pleasure of benefiting from the warm and professional services of Rita and her colleagues at Tousled Hair! There is a cute little dog as well Dione Sanders that energetically greets customers at the door as well! The entire ambiance at shop is perfect for relaxing, getting pampered and leaving some stress at thr door. The art choices are beautiful. The Aveda products that they use really soothe my often itchy scalp and since I have started using the recommended products Rita has suggested, Im less itchy and flaky! Recently, Rita helped us salvage a botched first haircut attempt for our toddler boy. We couldnt have done it without her help. Jersey City is lucky to have such a hair oasis as this one. Show Rita and her colleagues love when you see them. Yoi cant take gems for granted.
