I hope Shipyard Kings will get rid of the machine check out. Then I hope they send their cashiers up to Trader Joe's to observe how much happier and nicer their employees are. They smile and say hi when you get to their stand. At King's they act like they are doing you a BIG favor to personally check you out. It used to be a good place, but now it's a downer (with high prices despite the app discounts that often don't apply at this little Kings). I feel sorry for their employees who look miserable. Kings HQ could do "secret shopper" and see and compare to TJ.

Very poor experience at the Hoboken location today. Waited at the deli counter for several minutes without being acknowledged by the three associates behind the counter. They saw me there and kept on chatting. I walked away after a while. I dont mind paying premium prices at Kings, but I expect premium service. This store has so much more potential.

It is conveniently located but overall a bad grocery store that offers poor value to customers.
Most things are expired or are soon to expired. You really need to check every label.
But it is also very expensive.
You are much better off going to Whole Food in Weehawken or Trader Joes in Hoboken both 15 minutes away walking.
