Dont walk but run away from Prime Stone. We went with them for a driveway extension and resurfacing of our existing driveway. They werent the cheapest estimate that we got but what they were proposing to do and the stated thickness of the asphalt seemed better than others. In addition to the extension they said they would excavate an area of dirt that was contaminated with brake fluid and replace the dirt with the soil that they were going to dig up to clear for the new driveway. They were friendly and professional and we signed the contract. Work started very quickly with a decent sized crew to do the excavation. They began by digging out the driveway and moving the dirt to another area of our property. When I asked about them digging up the bad area I was told they would do that later. They excavated, put down the crushed stone and compacted it quickly. The tore up a 4 wide area at the top of the driveway because it had settled over time and they dug up a 8-10 wide strip at the bottom of the driveway to be able to finish that area with the new asphalt. At this point worked stopped for a period. I repeatedly called and was given various excuses as to why it wasnt being completed. They did come out the next week to complete the job. Putting down the new asphalt took half a day and by time they got to the bottom it was cooling. One of the crew, Michael, pointed that out to me and told me they would be back within a couple of days to fix it. Several days later Thomas came back with 2 guys. The asphalt in the truck was already cold, his plate compactor wasnt running correctly and I order to heat the asphalt he used a large propane torch. He torched the new asphalt so much that it no longer adheres to the stuff around it and crumbles if you rub it. It was Thomas that came out to finish the bottom of the drive. While his guys were working he was far more concerned with what was on his phone than the work they were doing. I spoke with him and stated that it wasnt good. He said he would be back. I called and spoke with Michael who seemed genuinely unhappy with the fact that the job was not done correctly. That being said, they never came back out to fix it. The first few days they called me and told me that the asphalt company was mixing asphalt using larger stones and they wouldnt match. Then they just stopped with all contact. I have attempted to contact them numerous times and have left multiple messages without a call back. Its a shame because the majority of the actual driveway work was good. In addition to this when they replaced the area that I wanted done they just spread good dirt over the contaminated stuff. I guess they hoped that I wouldnt notice. They also used and broke my wheelbarrow. It is older and that would not have bothered me if 1) they had asked to use it and 2) told me that it was broken. I found it. Service: Asphalt paving & repair
