Hotel review My husband and I are just returning from a fabulous stay in Cape May. We spent three nights at the Peninsula Boutique Hotel at Kings Grant which is part of The Cape Collection. The Inn was beautifully decorated with an appearance of French elegance within the design of the rooms and dinning area in the Provence Restaurant that is within the same building. Our room was no exception to the overall charm of the Inn. The room and bathroom were spacious, bright, airy, and fresh. We were greeted by a friendly host who shared important details for our stay. To our surprise we were given champagne and a box of truffles as a welcome gift in our room; a nice touch to make guests feel special. The beds were gorgeous and dressed in fine linens that were both soft and cozy. Unfortunately, the bed itself was very uncomfortable; it was hard and the pillows too firm and unforgiving . For such elegance and soft linens we were expecting a bed that would engulf us in comfort and luxury. Instead we tossed and turned searching for a comfortable spot while wrestling with stiff pillows each night . My suggestion would be a soft topper or feather mattress toppers for the beds, and at least two down or semi down pillows for each bed. I was honestly surprised the pillows were such poor quality; they didnt match the elegant vibe of the hotel . Breakfast was included with our stay which was a nice addition. French pressed coffee and warm sweet breads and pastries were a nice start to our mornings . The breakfast choices, including brunch on the weekends, was limited and the kitchen seemed to struggle with over cooking some items . The breakfast potatoes were overdone, dark and very crispy to the point of being brown chunks of greasy potato chips, the baked overnight oats were very hard and difficult to eat - we tried to like them but just couldnt eat them. The next day we tried the Dutch Baby Pancake in a cast iron pan , I make these frequently and they usually puff up to a pillowy soft crepe like texture these; however, were too thin and crispy - again over cooked like a crispy cracker instead of soft pancake like crepe. The blueberry and lemon topping were both delicious . On the third day we tried the brioche French toast which came as three triangles of French toast with nice toppings, but again over cooked - the French toast was hard with a couple ends blackened like being stuck on the hot corner of the griddle. I am accustomed to puffy, thick soft slices of brioche bread when having French toast ; however, thin dark style may just be the way they prepare it. Overall breakfast was okay- we were a bit disappointed though . The staff was extremely friendly and attentive to any request. A place you feel both welcome and special.

We were visiting my Mom who resides at Brookdale Cape May Assisted Living in Cape May Court House. We had stayed here in 2018 & 2019 when it was the old Doctors Inn. The new owners have really upgraded, everything. From the rooms to the common areas, outside and restarting the restaurant. We stayed in the Cassis room. It has a king bed and TWO bathrooms, which we just loved having. The room was very well lit and comfy. Would have loved a room fridge but was able to use the one in the common area on the third floor (with complimentary coffee, teas, soda, drink and snacks). And since there was no one else staying at the time, didn't have to worry about stuff in the fridge. The staff was fantastic and answered any questions. The breakfast was out of this world, lots of food. You get three choices and put in for them the night before. We didn't have dinner in the French restaurant but the two nights it was open it was pretty full. Our only issue was one night after the restaurant closed, they left the music on and it was pretty loud. Couldn't find a way to turn it off, but it automatically turned off at 11:30pm. We mentioned this the next day and it was lower the next two nights. The rooms really been updated and are just great. Would stay there again for sure and hope to. Walkability: Cape May Court House is a quaint nice little town (I grew up there in my teens and lived there on and off after). The area where this bed and breakfast is located is close to many restaurants, ice cream stand and a mile from a couple shopping centers.
