I waited to review Allyn until my second visit as consistency is key when it comes to hair care. He took his time during the consultation to ensure he understood my hair goals. He made great recommendations and then executed a great curly cut. And if your hair is in decent condition, hes not trying to sell you a bunch of products you dont need. I found my go-to guy!!

I booked a wash and trim with a braid down, the environment is very professional and welcoming but the service was very lackluster. The wash was fine but the stylist cut way more off for my trim than I asked, she showed me my hair prior to and we discussed that I was ok with cutting off all the dead ends of about 2 inches, but she proceeds to give me a haircut that took off around 4-5 inches of hair to even it out. I was completely devastated but what was done was done so I couldnt do much about it. I later called to receive the pictures they took of my hair and was told I would receive them and never did. The braid down was done very hastily; I figured since they did wig installs they could do actual braid downs, but she just put my hair in large straight backs and didnt tuck the ends. I was hoping to find a consistent salon to keep up with my washes and trims but between the pricing as well as the laziness of the braiding, I most likely wont be back.

History: I grew up spoiled by mom when it came to my hair. She literally prayed that Id be born with hair and I was. Shed do my hair three times a day every two weeks. Wash it detangle and braided while it air dried, unbraid it comb it out again then twist/braid on dookie braids, then unbraided it and actually moisturize and style it. This worked for my hair and my hair grew long and thick. As I got older sometime in high school this stopped lol and so began the journey of me taking care of my hair myself. I dabbled in box braids and other similar styles and sew ins. When my hair wasnt in those styles Id get a Dominican blow out and this was manageable for me in high school. When I went off to college I no longer had access to black owned hair shops/stylist so I started learning how to do my own hair. Box braids, cornrow braids, wash and detangling by myself. Then in 2018 I decided I no longer wanted to wear weave and wigs so went fully natural, whilst eating better, and praying and my hair grew even longer than it was. But in 2022 I decided to try and straighten it again the first time in four years ms went well so I waited eight more months and tried again and then I had heat damage. I was devastated! So I tried going to hairstylist but I didnt like how theyd handle my hair. They werent patient, they rough, they didnt have simple things like heat protectant or hair ties, they combed through matting with strength rather than separate them strand by strand (like Id did), try to pressure me into things, or make me feel bad because they were insecure about their abilities to do a style I requested, and one lady even made my scalp bleed talk about trauma!! So I went back to wigs because I didnt want to wear my hair natural with the damage and didnt want to go to these crazy hairstylist for about a year. But I got tired of doing my own hair and it really stressed me out so I stopped washing it as much what was once a every other week wash day became a every three weeks it four weeks wash day. Yesterday, I decided to search online for natural hairstylist (one search Ive done way too many times). I came across this salon and I tried to set an appointment but was honestly afraid lol . I went back in fourth opened and closed safari. Then I decided to book it with Eden. I booked her because she looked like she probably had more of a similar hair texture to mine but I was scared. I got to the appointment with my hair in a terrible condition (from washing it three weeks prior, it was dry, brittle, with product buildup). But Eden while acknowledging my hairs state was patient with my hair, detangled it gently (lots of detangling lol) she even took the time to separate matting. She blow dried my hair and when it came time to the trim she asked me if I was ready to trim a lot of it (which I wasnt) and she didnt make me feel bad or tried to pressure me into trimming a lot. I felt seen!!!! But then my heart broke once she said that was her last day working there lol . I was like theres no way!!! So I quickly grabbed a hold of her info because I cant take no chances out here in these shops with someone else. Also they had hair ties. Lol a shop with hair ties in 2023 imo is a blessing lol !! Thank you Eden! Service: Hairstyling
