Had my mother's driveway plowed by Lavallee... too expensive for a sub-par job that's left us with repairs come spring. Is using the top of the plow to scrape the ground a new technique? If it is, it's wildly ineffective because all it did was pack snow down instead of push to end of the driveway and left gouges that we typically don't see until the end of February after multiple plowings. Just wanted the guy who showed up gone after he plowed at an angle and got too close to the side of the house and struck a narrow stone-edged flower bed -- if he had stayed that close as he went down the entire side of the house, he would've had to take out the chimney before hitting that flower bed! If he had stayed parallel to the house where I had tried to indicate during the estimate he would've missed the flower bed by three feet, so I didn't think I had to specifically warn him about it. For all that it matters, if the truck had slid six inches on the ice with how he was plowing, he would have struck the back corner of the house. Also seemed to assume he'd be showing up the following day, as more snow is being predicted overnight, and I had to specifically tell him not to come back. Even if he hadn't hit that flower bed and done a better job on the rest of the driveway, we wouldn't want Lavallee back at their prices. In the past, we've never paid more than $30 for plowing plus walkway and mailbox being shoveled out. Lavallee's rate starts at $50 per visit, and didn't include the walkway or mailbox area. Only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because Lavallee was the only plow service to be open/willing to come out on a Sunday/Christmas Eve Day -- everyone else I tried was either closed or didn't return the voicemails/emails I left after the people who my brother said he had hired to take care of plowing were no-shows/failed to return calls for the second storm in a row.
