Great place to stay

This place was angling for a five-star review. I needed a quick weekend getaway and the Campton NH location was perfect, right off the interstate, a "pet room" for little Lucy for a not terrible price, $102 before taxes. I arrived looking forward to a relaxing evening. And then ... the avuncular yet a bit smarmy desk clerk tells me I owe another $25 for my dog. I explain to both him and the morning clerk, that is a bait-and-switch sale -- abject fraud. Back home writing this I'm burdened with trying to get my $25 back with a complaint to Best Western corporate ... angry at myself for not just sneaking my dog in the room. You can imagine what I will do the next time.

This was a great location for a visit to the Ice Castles in Woodstock, NH. The staff are very friendly and welcoming (David checked us in and was patient with my many questions). The rooms are clean with heating and cooling available, very comfy beds and pillows. The complimentary breakfast included options like scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, a pancake maker, bagels, toast, yogurt, orange juice, oatmeal, and fresh fruit. The gentleman manning the breakfast area was so quick to make sure everything was stocked and was very nice. The pool is kept at 80 degrees and there is a sauna too. We had a delicious lunch at the Covered Bridge Farm Table restaurant which is a short walk across the street before driving up to the ice castles (about 20 minutes away). There's a fun arcade in the lobby, too! We went during February winter break week and so the hotel was packed with families that had little kids. There was some screaming and loud laughter (actually by a woman, not a kid) somewhere near our room late at night, but that's not the hotel's issue. Overall this was a more affordable and great alternative to a place in Woodstock closer to the ski resorts. Rooms: Clean, air conditioning, heater, microwave, comfy beds Nearby activities: 20 minute drive from the Ice Castles and Loon Mountain ski resort Walkability: Great restaurant across the street for delicious food (Covered Bridge Farm Table)
