When my longtime cardiologist retired, I needed a new one I could trust. My previous doctor was a personal friend and had seen me through many years of heart issues. I'm so glad I chose Dr. Fonte. He's one of the few who haven't sold out to giant corporations. For the past four years I've seen how professional everyone in the office is. Some have been with him for more than 20 years. He is caring, compassionate, and extremely competent.

When a doctor walks in the room, glances at your paperwork and say's : There's nothing I can do for you because I don't have your medical records and walks out in less than 5 minutes, it hurts. I didn't mind the wait time, I didn't mind being a test subject for the staff member learning how to do a EKG on me before Dr. Carlos Fonte entered the room. It's hard to put into words the disbelief I felt. I went to the window and asked the staff, politely, what was going on. I was met with silence as she handed me a paper for a Nuclear Stress Test and told me I was free to leave. Needless to say, I canceled the test but I did receive a bill for $15.28

I've been coming to Dr. Fonte (specialist) for years, I'd say when we were in the "trying to make a baby" stage (our son is five, almost six, but it took us 5 long years to get pregnant). My primary doctor at the time, referred me to him. I'm so glad that my insurance (PPO) still covers this practice. When I finally did get pregnant, I saw Dr. Fonte a lot more, so as to keep me healthy and make sure that my baby was safe. I have hypertension (genetics). When I was pregnant, to lower my already-high risk, I had to change my diet to low-sodium. After I had the baby, I eased up a bit. But Dr. Fonte stressed more cardio and to change my diet once again (my primary doctor at the time, told me there was no other way to control my blood pressure- so this goes to show you that even doctors have different opinions). I've kept it up for some years, now- I wasn't trying to lose weight, but it was a side benefit (I practice this lower-sodium diet during the week, and weekends are cheat days.). I'm glad that I took the doc's advice, because it's made such a huge difference. I cannot say one bad thing about Dr. Fonte- he is truly a great doctor. I've had the ultrasound, stress treadmill test, and the EKG a couple of times over the years (at first I was nervous, but I do quite a lot to keep active- weights, yoga, walking, flights of stairs at work, & swimming). Both times, I had great results. Since it is a pretty penny, I am able to make financial arrangements (payment plan). This helps out a lot. The equipment used is pretty good. One of the staff members said they got a new machine recently. I like to get the first available appointment in the morning. I think that the afternoons tend to be a busier time, which means more waiting. The waiting room is nicely stocked with many comfortable chairs. The tv is on, and it is usually the news or on HGTV. The staff is always pretty nice, as well as professional. Some staff members are bilingual as well, so they can accommodate spanish-speaking patients.(Tip: If I take the stairs down to the parking lot, it is 9 flights of stairs.)
