Candlewood Suites Las Vegas - E Tropicana, an IHG Hotel

Front desk staff was AMAZING. This is a newer hotel and it is clean. Our room was spacious and had lots of amenities (full size fridge, microwave, dishwasher, and a hot plate) which would be great for longer stays. Beds were super comfy. They have a great little snack area where you can purchase items in the lobby. The pool, although smaller, is very nice and relaxing. The location is off the beaten path of the strip but is not a far walk to MGM, New York, New York or T-mobile arena. Also, there is brand new Denny's located within the same parking lot which was nice and convenient. I would most definitely stay at this Candlewood Suites again.

We really wanted to love this place but found this newer hotel lacking in several ways. We booked here because we were travelling with our older dog - she wouldn't do well walking miles from a parking garage, through casinos to a room so Candlewood's "normal" hotel and parking lot did work for us and our dog. However, if travelling with a dog, be aware that the pet area is a tiny, covered in artificial turf, and in the sun. The entire rest of the property is parking lot or gravel with cactus landscaping - certainly not dog friendly. The room itself had issues. We asked where the luggage racks were but were told there are none because " we're an extended stay hotel". So, I guess we are supposed to unpack everything for our two night stay? Instead, we lived out of our suitcases on the floor - both uncomfortable and unnecessary. Our kitchette was oddly supplied with only 1spoon, no plates or cups but lots of pans. We weren't needing the kitchen so just thought it was odd rather than an inconvenience. It was only on the day we checked out did we look inside the dishwasher where all the missing items were found, dripping wet since before our arrival....so we guess you're expected to unload a dishwasher upon arrival?!! A few other issues made our stay less pleasant....One of the beds was against the heater/cooler so you could only exit from one side of the bed...kinda a dumb layout; No milk/creamer @ the coffee bar in the lobby- "we'll get some later today" - great; and a flood from either the dishwasher or refrigerator could have caused some problems with our suitcases on the floor if we hadn't been there when it started. - we threw some towels down, put our suitcases on the bed, and let the front desk know - they let us know they've had this problem before (but didn't fix it ?!); and the trash container outside the side door we used was overflowing and never emptied during our three days despite being close to the dumpster. We're really not difficult travellers but all these little annoyances made us wish we had booked elsewhere which we could have easily done for the $440.00+ we paid for two nights with a dog fee plus parking. We won't be back.
