His office got me in on very short notice as I had symptoms of a detached retina, and we were a couple hundred miles away from home for a conference. I was puzzled that he didn't think it was a dire emergency but it he did indicate it needed to be taken care of soon. He said he could contact a retina specialist and I should be fixed up within a week... that was my recollection. I told him I was from out of town but did have a retina specialist there so he arranged to have his employees call my doctor right away. I was scheduled to see my specialist the next day and had surgery the day after that. 5 stars for getting me in so quickly- 4 stars that he didn't seem to think it was important to get into surgery right away. My surgeon said my eye had been falling apart for a long time and there was more damage than he thought once surgery started. Dr. Gassen was of the opinion that my sight in the affected eye probably would not be restored. My surgeon said no way to tell until the retina heals. I really appreciate that Dr Gassen got me in on such short notice and facilitated my getting the further attention that I needed.
