why is postal protections not enforced. sure people make mistakes we are all human somethings end up in wrong box. But at that point those people are now bound by law to return it. Yes. It is a federal crime to open or destroy mail that is not intended for you. The law provides that you can not "destroy, hide, open, or embezzle" mail that is not addressed to you. If you intentionally open or destroy someone else's mail, you are committing obstruction of correspondence, which is a felony.

I only needed to pick up an item of general delivery mail and post another item but the gentleman who attended to me (silver goatee and glasses, i'm sorry i can't remember your name) did so very quickly and pleasantly. I was in and out in just a few minutes with a smile. Thank yoiu!
