Skalkaho Stables

Indi and Zack are the greatest and take great care of the horses. I have been taking riding lessons there. Indi works hard to make sure my rides are fun and takes great care to make sure I am safe and ride correctly.

I wish we could give more than 5 stars! Recently, our truck broke down high up above Skalkaho Pass. We needed two tows: one for the truck with camper and one for our stock trailer with our two horses in it. We got the truck covered by a Hamilton towing company but they were unable to provide a second vehicle to tow the horses. We also needed some place to put the horses down in Hamilton in this emergency situation. The truck repair shop googled "Skalkaho Stables" for us. Zack answered and was immediately on the problem with us. (He is also a volunteer firefighter and used to and trained for emergencies.) Both Indi and Zack were BEYOND FANTASTIC. Zack drove right up, brought water, and towed the horses all the way down that intense, dirt road pass back to their amazing stables for us. Waiting for the horses upon arrival at sunset were two large immaculate stalls with fresh bedding and a big bag of good hay. The horses ended up boarding for several nights there and it turned into more of a luxury vacation for them than a make-do stay. They were turned out daily, and were in more of a horse spa setting than our own place! Indie provided daily check-ins with us and we had no worries what-so-ever about their welfare while we dealt with the truck/camper situation. If that was not amazing and "beyond our wildest hopes" enough.... meeting Indi and Zack and learning a bit about their story, and seeing the beauty and caring of their stables was inspiring. Indi graciously showed us the stunning barn and indoor arena, surrounding paddocks and all the thriving horses and animals. You can see the caring and love in every detail. The facility is premium and even better yet, are Indi and Zack...and their devotion and skills with horse care and training. Now, we hope to attend some of their workshops, and possibly get some riding support there. They also connected us with Mustang Matt, who may be a link in connecting us with a rescue buddy as a companion for one of our horses this winter. If the truck hadn't stopped, we would have never known about this fantastic place and it's exceptional people. Beyond thrilled with the service that was provided to my children! Indi was kind, helpful and patient with training my kids (8,7 ,2) the fundamentals of riding. The horses she provided them to ride were calm and well mannered even the pony . I Would highly recommend to anyone !
