Dan Joseph Architects

I hired Dan Joseph in January 2021 for a major project in Big Sky, and added his son DJ as a construction manager in late winter of 2022. I fired both of them in September 2022 due to lack of progress, cost overruns, conflicts with personnel, and a fee dispute of over $200K, currently heading for mediation. Dan struggled to hire contractors, blaming market conditions, while charging high hourly fees for unsuccessful attempts, on top of the percent of the overall contractor bills. He often hired contractors on T&M basis who left the project unfinished after being paid for work that hasnt resulted in tangible progress while also taking commissions for the wasted work. He consistently missed deadlines and cost estimates, ordered excessive supplies and provided unnecessary complex, expensive and objectionable architectural designs. I had to hire other companies to redo parts of his deliverables. After being fired, Dan aggressively pursued objectionable fees, filing liens against the property. Since his termination, the project progressed rapidly and at a fraction of the projected cost. Dan shows no awareness of the damage caused and refuses to take responsibility.

I was just reading the other comments and i Cant belive if im the Only one who has worked closely with him and its really a hard man to work with, he was getting paid way before than doin something productive.

I have worked closely with Dan on projects over the last few years as a Landscape Designer/Installer. Dan's eye for detail and artistic flare show in his work. He knows what he wants to see in a project and kindly guides the direction of the work. He has put a lot of trust in us to complete a quality job with the needed details to make the project its best. Dan is a very hard man to work with. He is very arrogant and condescending. He really likes to spend money and not get things done. He was recently fired due to lack of productivity and just being hard to work with in general. He thought he had a money pit and after over a year it became apparent. He uses scare tactics against people who arent his employees, in my opinion, to keep his ego boosted. Very egotistical and arrogant. Save your time and money and pick another company. He is by far the hardest person Ive had to work with.
