Smith & Company may at one point have been a reputable business; not anymore.
We paid Cory over $3k in August 2023 to dig an egress window. At that time, he indicated that we would be on the schedule for September. September came and went, however, and then October. In November he promised he would come install the window, and even set a date. (At that point, we attributed the delay to Cory being super-busy, like all good contractors in the Billings area). The day he was supposed to show up, however, he texted to say he was running late--and then never showed, without explanation. We followed up with him to reschedule, but Cory never committed to a subsequent date. He was slow to respond (true in general), and never followed through on what he said he would do.
Later in November 2023 I at last asked for a refund, which he promptly said he couldn't provide due to lack of funds. I gave him until January 15th to provide a refund--even offering to accept a refund over time--but I received no response to that offer. It's clear he has no interest in returning our money.
In explanation of all this, I did get the same story from Cory as referred to by an earlier reviewer; divorce, messy finances, etc. I suspect this story is true, in whole or in substantial part; my sense is that Cory has been a good businessman--one with skills--who's simply fallen on rough times, and isn't handling it well.
All this to say: Do not work with Smith & Company, at least as of January 2024. I sincerely hope that Cory can piece his life back together in the near future, and that he can get back to running a successful business (for his own sake and for his customers). For now, though, he's walked away with over three thousand of our dollars, with absolutely nothing given in return. Go elsewhere for your window needs.

Im not sure what to even say about this company. The owner showed up several days late to start the job, which we had lined up months in advance, so that was my first red flag. After showing up, hed work about 90 minutes a day, a couple of days a week, sporadically throughout a 2-week job, which shouldve taken 72-96 hours max. After he said he was almost finished with the job besides cleanup, we paid for his services, and then he packed up his trailer, and bailed, leaving a huge pile of dirt in my backyard, which has now been sitting there for several weeks.
He gave me a huge sob story about a divorce, frozen bank accounts, and bankruptcy, but in the end, he didnt complete the job we paid for, in the time he said he could get it done, even though he received full payment for said services. I get that life will get you down sometimes, but at least stick to your word and live up to your promises. My wife owns a childcare business, and we can't just have square yards of dirt sitting outside of our back door. Overall, while the windows do look nice, it has been a month, the job still isnt done, and weve got a lovely holiday view out of our living room window of a large dirt pile that I am going to have to have removed, assuredly on my dime.
He was unprofessional and he didnt communicate at all without me reaching out to him. He consistently offered excuses along with solutions that he also didnt live up to I've reached out a few times over the last 3 weeks only to be left on read, and not having received any responses. I wouldnt hire this man to sweep my driveway, let alone do construction on my family's home ever again. If his story of bankruptcy wasnt an outright lie, it would be blatantly clear to see why his business has failed. Avoid Cory Smith, and Smith & Co. Design & Construction at all costs.

We're grateful that Cory and the guys were able to take on our egress door in the midst of the Billings construction rush. Work looks great, everything functions as intended, and they stuck with their estimated price. No surprises! More delay than anticipated but mainly due to crazy spring storms. The guys were pleasant and professional. We would have appreciated more communication as to when and how things were working out, but Cory did answer us when we texted. Thanks for a great basement access solution, guys!

Working with Cory was a breeze! He installed 2 egress windows and they are wonderful! Work was guaranteed to be done in 24 hours and he did 2 egress windows in less than 7 hours. Great craftsmanship, quality and professional. Cory communicated well and scheduling was a breeze! I would highly recommend Smith & Company construction!
