My surgeon performed a double mastectomy on me in May. I left the hospital with little to no information on the care except not to get the nerve blocker wet. Went back for a check up I had some swelling she barely glanced over it said it was lymphedema and sent me to occupational therapy. A week after the check up I was still having severe pain from the nerve feeling coming back, she prescribed me gabapentin, not once was I told you couldn't just quit taking them or you have to be weaned off them and I was prescribed 900 mg a day. Once I got done taking the gabapentin I started having really bad withdrawal symptoms. Again no information from the doctor or pharmacy about any of this. Also, when I started therapy, the therapist said the doctor should have done a little more research because it wasn't lymphedema. So far dealing with having a double mastectomy due to breast cancer, I have had little to no information on it just the procedure they would perform but no one told me when they remove the drain tubes they just tip them out of you without any pain meds or numbing. I felt like I was in a horror movie when she just ripped those tubes from my side. It really sucks that we can't get good care around this area because we have so little to choose from unless you want to drive 2 to 3 hours for better care. My breast cancer was caught early enough that having my breast removed shouldn't have been my first option. Since this area doesn't offer reconstructive surgery I asked for a referral to get reconstructive surgery after two weeks I called the place that they had referred me to and the nurse there informed me she informed the nurse at the Waynesville clinic of a few things but yet no one ever contacted me about those expectations. If I could do it over again I would have chosen Springfield or Columbia or Saint Louis.

Upon checking in my son an fairly concerning but, non-urgent issue the receptionist at this facility decided that she would use a website to determine which insurance provider to submit his information. My wife tried to correct the individual as these issues would have become quite bothersome when trying to ensure appropriate payments are rendered. Despite my wife trying to correct the billing information she was greeted by a I know better than you attitude. At this point I called to try to intervene and speak with an office manager who apparently was in Rolla. I get connected to a didderent PSR rep. This one disconnects the call. At this point I call back hoping that this was an error. Some 25 mins later of hold music I am able to make contact with said rep. The I go over the situation at which point this rep tells me that the receptionist did what the website told her to do. I then interupted the rep to explain that this was the issue in the first place that needed correcting. After explaining what needed to change the rep tells me that if I continue to speak to her in a manner that is condescending she would terminate the call. I told her I was not speaking to her in a manner that was condescending and continued to try to explain. At this point the new rep started to give me the attitude of someone who has had enough and wasn't listening at this point. She told me she would have a manager call me then got a bit more agitated when I asked if she would need my phone number to make that happen. Long story short, after the attitude if the personnel, being disconnected and trying to correct people from inputting incorrect information into their payment system I am the bad guy. For clarity, I did not yell nor did I raise my voice to this individual. I do however, have PTSD which has often been construed and mischaracterized as condescending because my tone doesn't change. However, despite all these things and the fact at no point did I swear or lose my composure I am the bad guy. The humor in all of this is this clinic is in a military town with several clients who has PTSD and if they can't understand this then perhaps it better for them to shut down the office and relocate somewhere that their incompetence is greeted with candies and thank you cards.
