Outside of moving into and out of my apartment I had a good experience here. During the yea, the one complaint was that the alley you enter the building through was never plowed during the winter and covered in garbage the rest of the year. The larger issue I had was with the move out process. When I moved in my bedroom had many small stains, smelled of smoke, had nails in the carpet, and the hardwood was so dirty it turned your socks black. It was clear nothing had been cleaned prior to my move in. When I moved out I was charged over $170 because I did not dust before I moved out, left half a roll of toilet paper, and my roommate did don't wipe the stove off before he left. When I moved out the room was much cleaner than how I found it and I still lost my security deposit and then some. It seemed like a way to take a little extra money on the way out in a way that could not be disputed. Outside of moving into and out of my apartment I had a good experience here. Highly recommended choosing verve over standard even if verve is more expensive. Its definitely a safer and easier commute from campus. In the winter the alley by the standard is not paved, super icy, city lofts clears their half but we dont get ours cleared. Maintenance is not reliable nor usually that helpful. We have a security guards that do absolutely nothing. The front desk is always, always closed making it hard to get packages. I think an Amazon locker hub would be super beneficial. I get my packages delivered to another building because there is no saying when the desk might randomly close. I was so excited to live here because of how nice it seems and for the most part can be, but the way it functions so poorly is a major downside. The part that makes all this even more frustrating is how much rent is here. I think I just expect more with how much I pay per month. I'll start by saying that this is a decent apartment and it is in a good location for students aside from the fact that you have to walk through a Jimmy John's drive through and past a giant dumpster to get there. Even then, it is definitely not worth the high prices that continue going up every year while the condition of the apartments deteriorate. The premises aren't maintained well (garbage in the hallways, dog excrements in the outdoor space, etc.) The apartment was filthy when I moved in and there was even urine in the toilet. I will also mention that the while the maintenance team is friendly and does a good and timely job, they will come at random times even if you specify a certain time. They also don't always do a great job cleaning up after themselves. There were a few occasions when we specifically said we would be gone and not to come during such and such a time and they came anyways. I had a nightmare experience with the management team here from day 1. They like to try to take advantage of college students in every possible way. The team tried to lock me into a new lease and told me I was responsible for finding a replacement. When I pulled emails that showed I was not responsible for the lease and asked for my security deposit back, they didn't respond for months. Also, even though Missouri law requires the deposit issued within 30 days of the end of the lease, I didn't get mine for almost 5 months after sending multiple follow up emails. Another example of the management taking advantage of students was when my friends tried renewing their lease before the renewal deadline and they were told that their space was already under contract by new tenants. When they asked how that was possible considering the deadline hadn't passed, they responded by basically saying "we know it can be confusing..." as if they were just idiots and didn't know any better. TLDR: don't live here. there are many other options that are more affordable and much better.
