Dear Kay,We were sorry to receive your 1 star review. I looked into the details of your situation and on the one hand, I can understand your frustration. I know it can be difficult to find housing right now, especially on a tight timeline. For our part though, I don’t think St. Louis Real Estate Society could have done anything differently to reach a different outcome. Let me explain.First, I can assure you that we did not mishandle your application unfairly or give others priority over you in the process. Kara, Melissa, and Jay all handled things with integrity at every step. You mentioned that you’ve been trying to rent with us for over 2 months but I think you may have meant to say weeks. Our records show that you first submitted an application with us on the 10th. At that time, the apartment you submitted on already had a pending applicant who had applied ahead of you. Receiving your application did make us aware that you had 2 dogs, which was just fine because the original property that you applied for allowed up to 2 pets.1 week ago, when a unit in a different property became available, you let us know that you wanted to apply. Unlike the 1st property you applied for, this other property did not allow any pets and we knew you had 2 dogs. It was then that you made us aware that your 2 dogs were ESA animals, not just pets. As is clearly stated in all CAPS on our application and in our marketing, we use a 3rd party service called “PetScreening” to approve pets in all of our properties. Since your pets were in violation of this particular building’s pet policy, we had to have the prior approval of PetScreening before we could accept your application since you required a special accommodation. They make the decision and we abide by what they say. Since the approval process for a special accommodation can take 2-3 weeks, we were upfront with you that we could not hold this particular apartment for you for that long should someone else apply.Again, I do understand why you are feeling frustrated but for our part, I feel that we treated you honestly, fairly, and with transparency. There isn’t anything that we could have done differently. Even if you don’t fully agree, I hope that you can understand why things happened the way that they did. In order to maintain integrity, we must stick to the guidelines. All the best to you in your search. And should you change your mind about us, we are happy to continue working with you.
