We hired Improovy to paint the 3 bedroom apartment in our 1909 house. The walls are plaster and there were cracks in the ceiling. We were on a tight schedule because we are hosting international visitors for a month, and Improovy told us they were able to finish the job within our allotted timeline. We got our initial quote after a virtual "walk-through". Crew lead came the Friday afternoon before the job was scheduled to start on Monday morning. He took pics, and we were supposed to get our final quote. On Friday, we paid a 25% down payment (of the original quote) and were scheduled to start on Monday morning. Come Monday morning, no one shows up and no one contacts us either. We contacted them and after a few hours, were told there was a scheduling conflict and they may start on Tuesday or Wednesday. On Tuesday, we finally got the updated quote (which was a lot higher than the initial quote and only came to us after contacting the project manager multiple times). We were told someone would come out on Wednesday to start the job. Finally one person showed up on Wednesday 2 hours later than they were supposed to arrive (came around 11 AM when they were scheduled to arrive between 8-9 AM). Project was expected to last 4 days (Wed-Sat). Keep in mind the project was supposed be Mon-Thurs, so were were delayed from the start. Work finally begins and the color goes up on the wall on Friday. We chose a Behr color, but they assured us they could color match from their supply. The color was absolutely not the same, but they tried telling us it was and that it didn't look the same yet because the paint was still wet (it was not) - see pic for color fail. They eventually owned up to it and got us the Behr paint in the correct color, but I really hated that they initially did not own up to it until we had to hound them to fix it. The kitchen walls did not need to be painted, only the kitchen ceiling needed work (crack cover up and paint). This was communicated to the project manager and crew lead. When I got out of work on Friday afternoon to check out the work, the paint from the ceiling was on the walls (there was no painters tape on the walls or attempt to not paint the walls). One of the crew members said he asked the crew lead 3 times if the walls needed to be painted and he was told yes, but we specifically said no (only ceiling needed to be painted). Communication fail and we were especially upset because we did not want to add more time and work to a project that was already delayed by 2 days from the start. Saturday comes and a full crew came and finished, but the bathroom (which was the last room to be painted) was super sloppy because it was rushed. We did not notice this during our final walk through with the crew lead (if we did, he would have fixed it on the spot). We only noticed how sloppy it was afterwards because we were still doing work in the bathroom that was delayed until after they were done painting. You can see the old dark green color coming through the light gray. Also the line where the ceiling meets the wall is super sloppy because it was rushed at the final hour. Again, if we had noticed during the final walk through, he would have fixed it. But you would think a professional painter would have noticed that and fixed it without us inspecting it through a magnifying glass. Super frustrating and upsetting when you pay a lot of money and expect a nice job and professional work. One pro is that everyone we spoke to and worked with was polite and respectful, but communication between the project manager, crew lead, and crew was abysmal. They owned up to poor communication and were apologetic, but overall this project was so stressful. We had to reach out numerous times to the project manager and crew lead and it would take an hour plus sometimes to hear back. I would not recommend this company because of the lack of communication and sloppy work since they rushed to finish the job. This has been the worst experience hiring someone for a house project and the final project isn't even that great.
