I have been going to Dr. Cutrona at Plaza Dental since 2014. I couldn't recommend them more! Between Dr. Cutrona and the staff, I have always had a great experience, and the location is perfect for me. I am shocked some people have had a bad experience, because Dr. Cutrona is the best dentist I have been to in my life.

Avoid this place at all cost, they will bill you hundreds of dollars after months later and say it was a glitch in there system but you have to pay it back within 30 days or you get fined extra money!

Ive been a patient of Plaza Dental since I was a child (well over 30 years and longer than any of the current staff) and wouldve never imagined going anywhere else until today. I was away for work for almost 4 months and returned to 2 bills from them and a letter from a collection agency regarding the bill. Confused by it all I called this morning to get clarification and to rectify the situation. I spoke with Becky who basically said well we didnt know that you were gone and my response was and I didnt know that I would receive a bill. I asked why wasnt the balance presented when I was there in September if it was from August and she responded its actually from April and we had no way of knowing that your insurance wouldnt cover the entire bill until after your visit in September (checked my insurance claims and they didnt submit the April bill until after my visit in September and it was processed the next day so of course you had no way of knowing but had you submitted it in April or sooner than September we wouldnt be here). She then went on to say that they emailed me regarding the bill as well. Ive NEVER received an email from Plaza Dental. I asked her to verify the email address on file and they had it spelled incorrectly (my email address is my name by the way) so again error on their part. I simply wanted to stop the collection, pay the bill, and move on and one would think that with all of the aforementioned that this would be an easy fix but instead of Becky being apologetic and taking ownership for their mistakes she was very condescending and dismissive telling me to take it up with the collection agency. It was extremely hurtful to be treated this way especially after patronizing this office for so long, my parents and grandparents were all patients of Plaza Dental and Ive referred NUMEROUS people to the office. Its very unfortunate that this once great place is being ruined by nasty attitudes and bad billing practices. I hate that I now have to find a new dentist but I refuse to continue to patronize a place where Ive been made to feel as if I dont matter.

HORRIBLE SERVICE, SNEAKY BUSINESS MODEL. If you do a quick google search of reviews of Cutrona or his office Plaza Dental, you will see I am one of MANY patients with this experience. I had dental work done 6 months ago and was told as I was leaving that it was covered by my insurance and that I didn't owe anything. Fast forward 6 months later, a third party debt collection agency emailed me saying that I owed a large sum of money for the services in addition to late fees that more than doubled the base amount. I called Plaza Dental to discuss this, was passed around from Erica to Cailin to others in management, and they all did the same thing - blame me as the patient for not calling myself and asking for a bill. Nobody at Plaza Dental EVER gave me a call, an email, or anything before sending my invoice to collections - only ground mail that was aberrantly sent to my old home address from 4 years ago. THIS IS OUTDATED PRACTICE. Dr. Cutrona, ALL of this could be avoided by having your receptionist ask to verify the patient's address each time they walk in which takes all but 5 seconds, but when I suggested this to Erica and others, again they blamed me and hid behind a lack of people and resources. Very argumentative and confrontational staff. Needless to say I will not be returning to this office that has tried to nickel and dime me on multiple occasions with sneaky business practices. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. plenty of other good dentist office options in St. Louis.

I have gone here for years, but I will never go to this office again. An unitemized bill was sent to my mother for over $600 in 2020 for some previous services I received. A few weeks later, I received another unitemized bill (addressed to me this time) for over $900. When I spoke with Erica, she had a nasty attitude and was very unknowledgeable (her excuse was that she just started in the position and wasn't sure about claims/bills that the previous rep handled). On the same call, Erica told me the bills were from dates of service in 2019 and said they didn't have my correct insurance on file. I asked why I was just being notified about this when I visited the office in 2020, and no one ever mentioned any past due bills. SN: Anybody who has visited this office knows they never let you leave without paying your copay or check-in/out without paying a past due balance. I asked Erica to send me an itemized bill with the correct dates of services so that I could investigate because any time I've ever visited the office, I provided them with the correct insurance information. Erica sent out a new unitemized bill with a $10 late fee attached and a handwritten note advising me to call the office with questions. I printed off the EOBs from my insurance in 2019, and each claim was paid. When I called the office to let Erica know, she told me the bills were from visits in 2020. At that point, I asked why I was receiving bills a year later, and she told me it was because they were waiting for a year for the claims to be processed by the insurance, and they had just received notice that the insurance was not paying. Later, I called the insurance that I had in 2020, and they confirmed the three claims were submitted to the insurance-all three claims totaled around $460- two claims were paid, and the third claim did not pay because it was submitted incorrectly. They also explained that the payments were sent to me, and they would reissue the checks for two of the claims and that the office needed to resubmit the 3rd claim correctly. I called the office back to notify Erica and ask where they got the $900 charge? She became very hostile and told me I owed $900 because the amounts sent to the insurance were submitted at the Delta Dental (my old insurance) rate and not the BCBS FEP rate, which was higher, and they never got payment. Erica said she would need to resubmit the claims with the correct rate and then asked me if I would like her to resubmit the claim. Then, she said I would need to send her the EOB's so she could adjust the balance. Erica resubmitted all three claims in July 2021 with the exact amounts that she initially stated were the rate for Delta Dental to BCBS FEP. I received two payments, and the third claim was denied because it was still being submitted incorrectly. The bill was sent to a collections agency. When I called to discuss this with Erica, she was very belligerent and said they would not resubmit the last claim because they submitted it five times already, five times incorrectly! She then told me I would need to speak with my insurance about the incorrect claim and said I should've paid copays after the services. Umm. How was that possible when you told me you all had been waiting a year for my insurance to process the claims? The collections amount is for appx. $504, but Erica says the office only submitted it for $302.00. How did the bill go from $900 to $300 and the collection amount is $500, and the agency confirmed no fees had been added; It makes no sense. Now, I have to get the office to send me the 3rd claim form that they've submitted incorrectly and handle the issue myself. This office has violated HIPPA twice with my account, and I continued to go because Dr. Cutrona is an excellent dentist. This whole incident has done it for me. Erica is horrible! I will never patronize this office ever again.
