My particular landlord was great however and my unit was well kept, but the building in general is not in great shape. I was always finding roaches in common areas (although they were dead). I looked at buying but the HOA is very high and not worth the cost of the unit. The board who runs it is unresponsive and doesn't answer emails. They ignore renters completely. On top of that, they charge "deposits" but then keep them to make repairs or updates without providing notice to tenants. When there is something to communicate, the board members post passive aggressive signs all over the place. I recall one time last year when there were so many signs, someone in the building posted another sign pointing out there were so many. They responded with another sign. The office staff is friendly but stuck because often they often are not empowered to answer questions and I think they realize the board can't manage the building very well. I had to make contact the city about a concern that has gone unanswered well after I moved out. I would have loved to resolve my issue and regain the deposit I was owed but while I wait for the city, I must share here my experience.
