I booked a balayage and haircut with Valerie. At the end of the service, Valerie told me to send her pictures the next day to "see how the color turns out." (I left with wet hair, on my own volition, because I don't like how my hair looks after getting blow dried.) This morning I sent her pictures of my balayage, which turned out to be more of a reddish brown copper than the blonde we had discussed. I was surprised when she told me if I wanted a different color, I would need to book a new appointment. I asked if this would be a new service, rather than touching up what we had already done with some additional toner, and was told it would be. I then expressed that I had thought we agreed on blonde (not the coppery red it turned out to be) and was told not to contact her directly anymore. I'm frankly confused, because I thought she A) genuinely wanted me to let her know if I was happy with the final product, and B) in my past experiences with color (albeit at other salons), stylists have been very quick to offer any follow up modifications when the color doesn't turn out as planned, especially when the client is a repeat customer spending $180 (plus tip). Hate to complain because I've loved all of my haircuts with Valerie and this is my first negative experience, but it left a really bad taste in my mouth! I now feel compelled to share this with any future clients who would consider getting color or lightning. Beware, she won't offer to modify if you don't like the way it turns out. FWIW, we discussed a blonde balayge, so I'm not sure how me saying that I don't like the reddish copper color is me changing the terms of our agreed upon color. As a final point, I understand that capitalism is hard on all of us and everyone is overworked and underpaid. Definitely not trying to be a difficult customer, and would have understood if she had taken the time to explain why she felt like she couldn't make it right. But the way she ended the conversation and basically told me to "f off" in so many words (by contacting the salon and leaving her alone) felt uncalled for.

Seriously cant say enough about my experience with Jessica and the staff at Salon St. Louis today Woke up this morning and reached a breaking point with my winter split ends and dry hair, so I decided to treat myself to a salon service. Scheduling last minute with the pleasant front desk worker couldnt have been easier and was I even greeted with a delicious cup of tea! Jessica treated me like an old friend and seemed to know exactly what my hair needed. Ive visited a number of experienced stylists in the STL area, but my experience with her today was next to none! Thanks to the staff for such an uplifting service experience, I already cant wait to come back!
