When I was trained as a school psychologist we were instructed to discuss strengths and weaknesses across various subtests of the assessments, to aid in the interpretation of the scores, something that was clearly not addressed. It seems as though the "interpretation" of the data came from the scoring program and not from an individual actually interpreting the information. I am also wondering if that is where the lengthy laundry list of recommendations came from.
I also was trained to include measurement error whenever a score was reported, so that the range of variability was acknowledged.
That information was absent as well.
I am unclear as to why DSM diagnoses were given for learning issues, since this document relates to educational and not mental health issues. I am not sure that this is useful to public schools operating under ODE regulations.
I am going to do my best to help the parents better understand and take something useful from this report.
