When I suddenly found myself in need of legal representation for the first time in my adult life, I think I called every lawyer within a 100 mile radius. I could not be happier that I ultimately decided on Sam.
Finding the right attorney is a daunting task. It requires putting a lot of trust in a complete stranger, handing your future to them, and, even with a fair amount of research, essentially rolling the dice and praying that you've chosen wisely.
If you're faced with those types of decisions, I cannot recommend Mr. Scroggie enough.
What first stood out about Sam was that he spent ~45 minutes on the phone with me detailing his approach to the case, all before I gave him a dime. Most attorneys were brief or unwilling to speak at all without some kind of payment.
He also made it a point to suggest another lawyer in the area whom he thought credible and reliable (unbeknownst to him at the time, that lawyer was on my shortlist). Not a single other attorney did that. In fact, many of them felt like salesmen telling me how great they were compared to everyone else.
Sam didn't. He was honest and forthcoming. He was confident, but not arrogant. His ego didn't drive the conversation. I felt talked to, not talked at. That's why I picked him.
I'm glad as hell I did.
He got my case out of Gentry County (a Good Ol' Boy county where the policing primarily exists as a source of revenue. My father was in law enforcement for 40 years in NW Mo., trust me on this), and got me into a county where I at least had a fighting chance.
After that, Sam went to work. He dug through several hours of video, police reports, and case files. His thorough understanding of the law resulted in him recognizing an error on the part of Gentry County. In the end, that error convinced the judge to rule in our favor.
He is a solid attorney, and solid man as far as I'm concerned. Plus, he wears a bowtie. What's not to like?
TL;DR - He won our case when most attorneys said they couldn't. He explained every step of the plan to us. His price was fair and reasonable. He answered all of our questions. Repeat: He won our case.
Sam prefers to discuss things in person or over the phone. He doesn't appear to like putting too many details in emails or texts. Some people may struggle with this. Personally, I think it's incredibly wise; it keeps the paper trail to a minimum.
Be wary on this thread of several people who have clearly copy and pasted their comments from multiple accounts. That wreaks of dishonesty and deception (and smells a lot like a smear campaign from a vindictive minority of clients).

Sam is not only the best at his job he goes out of his way to explain everything properly. He actually does the work! He actually cares! He is honest and up front and when he tells you he will do something he follows through. He is NOT over priced but hes worth more than he charges! Dont waste your time with anyone else! Sam is THE BEST.

Will recommend to all, worth every penny paid. He was nothing short of incredible to work with and while I hope to never need him again he will be my first call if I do.
