My first visit was very thorough. I really enjoyed Dr. Sifers' overall attitude and bedside manner. He was fun, which is important to me in a physician because it's hard to talk about your health to someone you find vaguely threatening or judgemental. Maybe that's just me, but it seemed like a good fit. I was there for a long time but it wasn't time waiting or doing nothing. It was doing tests, talking to the doctor, doing more tests, talking to the doctor. I think the most time I ever spent just waiting was 10 minutes once. Dr Sifers was also very informative. I got answers to questions I've had for over a decade. I learned a lot of things about my asthma & I've had asthma for 34 years.

Let me start out by saying I was going to hold out on this review until I saw the doctor because there is always a chance at redemption when finally receiving quality care. Thats what Im there for. There were so many things that went wrong scheduling my new patient appointment that I need to share to save others potential frustration. I had to call 6 times and to every office extension listed in their system in the course of 2 days just to talk to someone without leaving a detailed message and we will get back to you. I dont have the luxury of answering my phone all hours of the day. I work in healthcare 50 hours a week. When I finally talked to someone, they scheduled me and THEN asked what my appointment was for, just to tell me oh you cant see that doctor then! As if I knew the doctor I was scheduled with was not an allergist, but instead a rheumatologist. So not going great because she sighed multiple times like I was inconveniencing her. But I figured its a large practice and the doctors should be nice. I am desperate for allergy testing. I have not had a voice in 2 full months. Remember when I said I work in healthcare? I need Thursday or Friday appointments. I get one 2 weeks out. Perfect, but its at the Plaza and I live in Lees Summit. Im 15 minutes late and I get it, we have to reschedule, but when the receptionist hands me my paperwork immediately back and cant find an appointment and the other receptionist walks by and says something under her breath about not doing new patient appointments past a certain time.. that basically means they didnt WANT to reschedule me. All in all, I didnt even make it past the front desk. Everyone I talked to acted like they hated their job. I wouldnt hire them to flip burgers with the attitudes they showed me. Also they havent updated their Lees Summit address on Google for anyone else who tries to pop in during business hours to schedule in person because no one answers the phone. Im so annoyed I tried so hard to make an appointment.

About
The Center for Allergy & Immunology: Travis Sifers, MD
Meet Dr. Sifers Travis Sifers, MD, is a board-certified allergy and immunology specialist at The Center for Allergy & Immunology in Kansas City and Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Dr. Sifers is board certified in internal medicine, pediatrics, and allergy and immunology.  Dr. Sifers was born and raised in the Kansas City metro area. He comes from a family of physicians and other medical professionals, and practicing medicine has been a life-long goal. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Kansas (KU), where he majored in history along with the requisite premedical studies. Dr. Sifers pursued his fellowship training at the Icahn School of Medicine in New York City, home to the Jaffe Food Allergy Institute and leading physician-scientists in both allergy and clinical immunology. He has considerable exposure to the diagnosis and management of primary immunodeficiencies, including the use of experimental therapies in pulmonary and gastrointestinal complications associated with common variable immunodeficiency.  He has presented and published research on a variety of topics in food allergy and primary immunodeficiency and remains actively engaged in clinical research. It is ideal for internal medicine-pediatric doctors to subspecialize because allergists are trained to treat adults and children irrespective of their primary training. But it is more personal for Dr. Sifers. It fits his personality and fulfills his intellectual curiosity. Dr. Sifers is thrilled to return to Kansas City. The Center for Allergy & Immunology is among the few private practices at the vanguard of managing allergic and immunologic disease, including mast cell disorders, and he is blessed to become a part of that. He loves this city and the people who make it what it is. He is excited to move home and be close to family again.  He is committed to patient-centered care. A 2018 study found that patients had a median of eleven seconds to communicate their agenda before being interrupted. He believes one can’t practice good medicine that way. Dr. Sifers wants patients to feel heard and understood. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Sifers, call the office or book online today.
