This is an older location that happens to be in a really great location.
The place is overall fairly well maintained. The carpet has some stains, the TV's are old and awkward, the light switches are weird and crooked.
But again, they're in a great location, they have a restaurant/bar with good food and drinks that closes a bit early(10pm). Pool (9pm close), Game room with some claw machines and a pool table. If you're with friends you'll have a nice night without leaving the building if you want.
The balconies are old and closed off. The doors are screwed shut, you cannot open them.

My wife, 3 boys, and I recently stayed 3 nights on the 12th floor. I'm not sure why people are going out of their way to give this place horrible reviews. We did NOT experience any of that at any time.
This is a really nice and really good hotel!
Check-in was smooth, the staff we interacted with was very nice, and we especially liked how more value was always being added. They have evening drinks from 5-6:30pm. Each guest gets two free adult beverages and the kids can have sodas or shirley temples at no charge and won't even go against the two free drinks the adults get.
The pool area is one of the biggest I've seen! There are two swimming pools; one upper that is shallow for the littler kids and a lower deep pool for the bigger kids who want to do some cannonballs. There is also a hot tub! This is a disappearing amenity at many hotels. All were in great working order and good water temperature too.
The restaurant and bar are staffed with great bartenders! They have a pretty large selection of food and drinks and I'd say the biggest attraction is the $15 16-inch pizza.
There's also a game room with air hockey and billiards.
Our room was a two-bedroom suite. I'm not one to be all that picky on how out-dated things are. As long as a room is clean and functional, I'm happy with it. People are just so dag-gone nit-picky.
But this room was huge! It had a fresh clean smell the whole time we were there.
There's a mini-bar with microwave and mini-fridge and comfortable beds all the way around.
And after all this, even with a restaurant on-site, they still have a FREE BREAKFAST! This isn't just your run-of-the-mill interstate motel continental breakfast. It's cooked to order! You can order omlets, pancakes, scrambled eggs, pretty much whatever you want they can make for you.
As far as parking goes, they have outside spaces as well as a large parking garage all for $23/night. May seem like a lot, but they could easily charge more given the extreme lack of on-street parking in the area plus the huge risk you take in this area too. It's almost a must to take advantage of the onsite garage.
Sure this hotel may seem like it's expensive and overpriced. But, they have so much value added to your stay it's hardly noticeable.
I highly recommend this Embassy Suites at KC Plaza.
