Kindred Hospital Northland

My daughter recently was sent to Kindred Long Term Acute Care Hospital in Gladstone Mo to be weaned off of a ventilator after being put on life support in mid January 2024. She is a complicated patient with quadriplegia, diabetes, digestive, and cognitive issues. She was unable to speak, eat, or drink when we arrived on Feb 23 because of having a trach. Within just a few days they downsized her trach annd began weaning her from the ventilator. With the help of their speech pathologist, she was soon able to drink and eat, and begin to say a few words. Within 2 weeks she had the trach removed and was discharged in less than 3. What a miracle! All of the staff were so professional and pleasant, and so kind to my daughter. We felt very confident in their care. I give them five stars and highly recommend them for their expertise and compassion.

The staff is amazing here. Everyone has been so kind I want to thank David my nurse and Chantel my CNA they are both wonderful and give such wonderful care. would highly recommend this hospital to anyone who needs wound care or really any kind of care. God Bless everyone.

My sister is getting the best care here the past month! The staff members are very experienced in their disciplines and very kind to the whole family! The wound care team is excellent and she is healing better here than other places. Everyone is thorough, patient and very professional and supportive. The team meetings are excellent and we never feel rushed or disappointed. The food is very good thanks to Steve! Amy has been my rock and so helpful. Dr Avila is excellent. Angie , wound care nurse, is so experienced and knowledgeable. Tak is the best respiratory therapist Ive ever worked with! The nursing staff and the new DON are the most knowledgeable, patient and kind!! I highly recommend Kindred if your family member needs a Long Term Care facility, especially if they are a complicated case! Ive been in the hospital business for over 40 years so I know quality and safety when I experience it every day! Thank you all for the healing care for my sister!!

Staff and acute care were great on the intensive care first floor and general care on the second floor. Moises was great with transfers and provides a good bedside manner. Pam (patient relations) was responsive to calls and is helpful with more info. Tyler (case manager) was great with finding rehab centers for transfer. All other nurses and therapists were pretty busy due to patient ratio but still tried to help where they could. Ct scans on site but can't take beds into exam room because doorway was narrow. Critical patients had to be transferred to fit into the room. Visiting hours is 8am to 8pm. Shift change is 7am to 7pm. Nurses helped bring in outside food if the cafeteria was closed. Parking was good and right off the highway. On the other hand, the building needs some work. Certain rooms will be pretty cold when there's no sunlight. Needed cleaning with dirty floors and piled trash cans. Staff really overcame these issues.
