        The waitress was absolutely amazing. The drinks were absolutely horrendous. My drink smelled and tasted like a bandaid, my friend said was the most subpar espresso martini she has ever had. So I got an old fashioned which is my go to, also quite awful. I was actually shocked by the quality & price. Then after an extremely long wait, the food came out. It was very cookie cutter and over seasoned with zero flavor, which makes no sense I understand. And then the owner of the whole establishment came up and said to us I hope the gratuity reflects the service with a really snarky face along with shaking her head, we were appalled. And certainly do not know where that came from. We voiced no opinions before then. (Except about the drinks to waitress) I am so disappointed because my friend and I never get to have an actual, fun time out and about so this was a special occasion. Extremely disappointed.

        Had a spectacular visit here a few years ago and just came back. Same warm atmosphere and great service, fine dining but without the stufy-ness of other fine dining places. And of course you have to mention the food. Stellar! And they have a take home section if you want some take out to enjoy later. Why don't more places do this??? Our daughter was in a mood, so thanks to Jordyn for being gracious w our cranky child.

      When Veritas was first created in 2004, it was not a restaurant. The Stitt Family intended it to be a supplier of interesting culinary goods and experiences. But not a restaurant.The shop always provided wine tastings, cooking classes and events. But as time went on, preparing food became central to what Veritas was, especially after Mathis Stitt took over in the kitchen.Veritas is now a restaurant. One of only 18 included on every edition of the Post Dispatch’s annual list of Top 100 Restaurants in St. Louis. It’s a deeply loved, community focused, extraordinary, Casual Fine Dining Restaurant.

      We too are disappointed your evening was not what you hoped. I am personally sorry that the short conversation we had was misunderstood as badly as it was. Our front of the house team is the best we have ever had – and your ‘amazing’ experience with your server is the norm. We also enjoy consistent positive feedback about the drinks our bartender creates unfortunately; we recognize that some people have different preferences. Every day folks leave Veritas telling us how much they are looking forward to their next visit, we are sorry that is not your response.
