Amazing doctor who always listens to me as the patient and person who knows my body best!

Best Doctor I've ever had and I have been fortunate enough to have had many good doctors. Dad was military. Moved a lot. Best bedside manner I've ever seen. His staff is incredible in the amount of favors they will do for you. They've helped My mother who has Alzheimer's. On several occasions they have helped research and locate other aide with nothing short of simple perfection. I hope he is my Doctor for the rest of my life. He has dealt with many of my injuries and he and his staff have a very calming and comforting approach after repeated visits. If I do lose him, I hope it's to become an educator. I'll wait for his first grad in the area. Thanks Dr. Scott Torrey and team.

I have to really disagree with Ms. Tindall's review of Dr. Torrey. I can agree with her on the generalization of most of the doctors we have encountered here in Jackson. If it is not text book they will make mistakes. And when you confront them on their mistake, for example; a misdiagnoses or botched surgery, they will circle their wagons and protect one another. From then on, you will also find it impossible to obtain care from anyone in the Jackson area. With that being said, and with all due respect, it is really a patients responsibility to follow their care as much as the doctors. Allowing a partner, who is using strong pain medication, to go into an appointment without an advocate or supervision is ones own responsibility. We had a very similar circumstance as yours. I had my wife come in and listen and ask questions during the appointments. Big difference on interpretations during appointment. I want to close with the fact that Dr. Torrey is attentive, understanding and a very valued part of our lives. He stepped in to assist us with a very bad situation we were enduring with another doctor's poor care and huge error in judgement. He assessed the situation, did emergency lab work that the other doctor refused to do. He literally saved my wife's life by calling us at 10:30 pm on a Friday night with instructions to go to the hospital immediately. He found my wife was indeed gravely sick and needed emergency care. My wife spent a week in the hospital and another month recovering. She would not be here without Dr. Torrey's dedication. I would highly recommend him.

If I could have the option to put no stars, I would. My husband has been a patient of his for at least nine years. After a car accident and other health issues that resulted in me having to drive my husband for a while, I went to one of his appointments with him. My husband couldnt wait for me to meet him. I sat in the corner of the room to be out of the way and just observe. I understood why my husband loved him because all he did was talk BS with him and didnt LISTEN to anything he said that was of medical relevance. He just nodded along in agreement with everything my husband said in his good ol boy way. This family medicine doctor is a joke!! Not only does he not listen to his patients, but he also doesnt practice ethical and safe methods of medicine. One example is the fact he prescribed my husband klonopin for over 9 years. This drug is known to cause dependency because people can develop a tolerance to the drug causing the patient to need higher doses, which is exactly what Torrey did with my husband. Instead of prescribing a different medicine for anxiety, Torrey would simply up the dosage on the klonopin, which is highly recommended not to be used for more than a few months AT THE MOST. After talking with others about this situation, it seems that many doctors are the same way. These doctors need to be held accountable for their lack of concern, knowledge, and ethical practices. If you want a family medicine doctor who takes his time, listens to you, and practices safe medicine, Scott Torrey IS NOT the doctor you need to see!!!

Dr. Torrey is the best family doctor I have ever had. However, because of Jill Moulder, his nurse practitioner, I am not returning to their clinic. I recently was bitten by a spider. She spent very little time with me, and put me on antibiotics for 10 days. That was last Friday. Today, April 3, 2019 I called stated I have been in constant pain since my visit. I had been taking ibuprofen. I got a return call saying I had developed a tolerance to ibuprofen. I was in tears, and went to the nurse practitioner at the St. Dominic's clinic in Pelahatchie. I had to get a shot for pain, muscle relaxers, and pain meds. Several years ago, Jill prescribed a new drug for my abdominal pain. I went to the er and had to have emergency surgery . I was on a morphine drip for 3 days. I never got an apology from Jill. She is lucky I am not suing her. She is a poor excuse for a nurse practitioner and a disgrace to the medical profession.
