The Met Apartments

I really like the gym and how helpful the ladies are in the office. I've enjoyed reading at the pool under the covered cabanas, but ready for summer to enjoy the swimming pool! Best place in Hattiesburg by far!

Let me start by saying I have lived in multiple apartments across multiple different states. Never once, have I had such a bad experience with moving out of one as I have had here at The Met. I work on the road and I haven't been physically in my apartment since June of 23. I tried to ask them about breaking my lease in October and was told it would cost me about the same amount as if I had let my lease run out on its own. So thats what I did. Now, upon moving out they have charged me around $500 in random damage/cleaning fees. That doesnt include the other $500 making the total 1k that comes from a month to month rent proration since I gave my 60 day notice 5 days late. (Even though they knew I wasnt living there anymore and had asked about breaking lease). In all my years of renting I have NEVER been charged $415 for a cleaning fee. This is price gouging at its finest. The apartment wasnt even in good condition when I arrived as the bathtub paint was flaking off, a light wasnt working, and other minor issues that I overlooked. Im a very easy to please person so I called the office and asked them to make note of it all so that I wouldnt be charged for any of it and I dealt with it during my short time living there. All in all, its not a bad facility to live in but the corporate price gouging and lack of basic humanity and understanding from management is very troublesome. I would definitely recommend staying literally anywhere else. Like I said, Ive stayed in nicer apartments than these and even in Dallas TX the move-out clean was only $200. $415 is highway robbery. Im sure some of the issues with the move-out wouldnt have happened if I was in town and couldve handled it all myself, but I work out of town and couldnt physically be there to oversee it all and they had ZERO human empathy in regards to that situation. My advice, find somewhere else to stay where the management has good reviews and actually cares for its residents. I wish I wouldve broken lease as soon as I left for my new job this year. EDIT: As of now, even though Macy in the office didnt remove the fraudulent fees from my account until March 14th, they sent me to collections less than 2 WEEKS after that. All while they told me I could not pay over the phone or online and that I had to pay with a cashiers check or money wire. (While I am telling them I work out of state and am currently in West Virginia). Garbage company, heritage properties was also zero help in the matter. Id sleep in a cardboard box before I ever spent another dime at this place.

Ive been here for a number of years and I believe its one of the best communities in Hattiesburg. The property is always well maintained, the units are modern, and the staff is always friendly. The community is peaceful and we rarely have issues. The few times I needed maintenance service they were prompt and took of issues quickly. I would recommend this community to anyone looking for a great place to live.
