Courtyard by Marriott Gulfport Beachfront

The Gulfport Courtyard is located in an ideal location with many food options within walking distance. It's about 15 min from the airport and the beach is located across the street. When you walk into the facility, it looks very colorful and modern. The rooms are ok and management told me they are on schedule for a remodel so once that is completed, I expect it to be the place where everyone will want to stay.

Had to make an emergency trip to Gulfport for a sudden family death so booked whatever I could get on Expedia during the drive. Room was excessively worn but we were so tired, it didnt matter. Then the next morning I took a shower. Glass shower door handle was broken and wouldn't close and the shower basin quickly filled up with water. We both had to turn off the water during our showers so it would not overflow. We didnt alert management because we had valuable personal items in room while we spent the day trying to decifer how my brothers life could end so abruptly. By the afternoon, our daughter called to say her visitors were leaving and we could go stay at her house in New Orleans. We quickly packed up and I brought my keys to the front desk to let them know the condition of our room. Even though our room was prepaid on Expedia, the manager on duty offered to refund our Sunday night stay and double our Marriott points. Of which neither of those things have happened. Ive tried calling the managers on duty and cant ever get through and voicemail box is always full. During a very sad, tragic time of our life, Courtyard was an extreme disappointment and we will not stay there ever again when there are so many other places to stay. Sorry for the long explanation but needed to vent. Rooms: Need updating. Poorly maintained.

Front desk & dining staff- very friendly and helpful. 1st room- dirty towels hanging in bathroom, hanging as if they were clean. Shower curtain dirty/stained. Tv show on as if someone was just watching it. 1 Bed skirt- dirty, brown spots. Chair- brown spots. Front desk staff was great& moved us immediately, apologized, & gave us breakfast vouchers. 2nd room- 1 dirty bed skirt. Dirty shower curtain. No liner at all. Chair looked clean. Both rooms- hair in tub. Dirty shower curtain . Dated. Beds looked cleaned. Grout/tile in bathroom needs to be replaced - stained. I went to Walmart & bought Lysol spray +wipes, towels, shower liner, pillow cases. I wanted to touch the least amount of surfaces, & linen. I made sure I had shoes on at all times in the room. We thankfully werent in the room much. I asked for the room to be cleaned the 2nd day of our stay. No cleaning& no more towels (which I wasnt planning to use anyway) . 3rd & final day- we did get more towels, no cleaning. (The reason I didnt leave the hotel all together is because I wasnt traveling alone.) Im a Marriott reward member, stayed in various marriotts & Im definitely done now. Im not even interested in free rooms that I usually get with points.
