Salesman took my money, provided no cabinets and Southern Cabinet justification was "he was a subcontractor not employee."

April 15, 2021, I received a cabinetry quote from a salesman on behalf of Southern Cabinet for a new construction home. June 22, 2021, I received a call from the salesman asking if I was going to let him/them (Southern Cabinet) supply my cabinets. The deciding factor to use Southern Cabinet was the salesman son suggestion on how I can save on taxes by making the check to his father the salesman. According to the son, my order would be ready anywhere from 6-8 weeks after receipt of my deposit July 6, 2021. September 22, 2021, after 3 weeks of failing to meet me with sample to approve the color, we decided to contact the owner of Southern Cabinet. According to the "clerk/receptionist" (not sure of her title); Southern Cabinet never received my deposit; had not started making my cabinets; and the father and son duo were no longer associated with the company as of September 10, 2021, because they have taken money from about 5 other builders, but the difference is that they didn't turn in any money on my behalf. September 22, 2021, I sent the duo salesmen a text requesting my money back; needless to say, neither one of them responded. It wasn't until I called the son from my work phone, he answered and told me "They represented the company and gave Southern Cabinet money for my cabinets." Later that day, the "clerk/receptionist" advised they (Southern Cabinet) do try to help customers with taxes but not like what the duo stated and customers in the past have written checks out to the salesman because they are subcontractors for Southern Cabinet.When Southern Cabinet received my certified letter requesting a full refund, they sent me a revised quote for my cabinet which was $3000.00 higher the original quote and they did not include the deposit I paid back in July. When I countered their quote, the "clerk/receptionist" texted me Southern Cabinet hired an attorney, and all correspondence should be directed to him. I have filed a police report and a warrant has been issued for the duo arrest. I have a fraud report with my bank because I found out the ID they used to cash the check was not a valid ID for either one of them. I also filed a complaint with the Consumer Protection Attorney General office and the sad thing is it seem as if they are going to get away with stealing people money. The police department said there is nothing they can do but wait until they do something to flag them in the system because they do not live in my State of State complaint filed. The bank said there is nothing they can do because they had no way of knowing the ID was not a valid ID for them. And now I received a letter from the Consumer Protection bureau stating there is no guarantee they could do anything. So please beware and do not patronize Southern Cabinet.

I provided Tracy Quinn with a $9000 deposit to build our cabinets. I fully trusted her and have even seen pictures of our cabinets but excuse after excuse has begun and we are a month past the date of promised install with nothing. Will post an update if I receive our cabinets.
