image Im an alumni and let me tell you
Being in this field will destroy you in a good way and bad way. Lately I wonder my worth as an art therapist. Also you cannot blame people which had happen at that art therapy meeting. We know that you dont want us art therapists. Whats gonna happen now? I have 50,000 dollar of debt thanks to you and you dont place me in a growing site. You fail to answer my concerns and it seems you want the system to be sick good job

image I loved attending Adler Graduate School. I found it to be challenging and accomplishable. They did a good job of building in education about culture and systematic influences on people. I loved that they were able to offer an online format. I would recommend their CMHC program.

image I graduated from Adler Graduate School in 2021 with a MA in Co-Occurring Disorders. After attaining my BA from the U of M and pursuing a Masters at a different University - I can attest that Adler Graduate School provides a high quality education that holds their students to very high standards. I am grateful for the education I got here. And employers recognize Adler as a place that creates high quality and well informed graduates/professionals. Meaning, youll graduate with a good reputation considering you attended Adler.
Adler himself was ahead of his time. And Adler Graduate Schools emphasis on Trauma-Informed, Multi-cultural, and Socially-justice focused care could not be more prevalent or necessary in todays complex world. This foundational part of Adlers coursework positioned me to enter the field of Counseling Psychology and Mental/Behavioral health as an expert in trauma-focused interventions and co-occurring disorders.
As a new therapist, I was surprised when I discovered that other professionals lack the knowledge that Adler emphasizes as foundational. This gave me a competitive edge I was not expecting to gain as a recent graduate and new therapist.
GRAD SCHOOL IS HARD. There is no way around it. Though, my professors and advisors worked closely with me to ensure I had necessary organizational and time management skills, emphasized self-care to reduce risks of burnout or dropping out (from the demands of grad school), and guided me towards a structured course projection that was manageable and attainable.
My only concern would be the lack of preparation for balancing internship with class coursework. I needed to work and financially support myself through Grad School, so it was a huge surprise when the coursework doubled when I started internship.
For students who need to work their way through Grad School, Id ask ahead of time about best practices to balance work, school, and internship. And ways to successfully structure your MA so that the demands of Grad School are sustainable and realistic.
