The former clinic nurse at this facility, Jessica Tanner, was cold and unresponsive and did not communicate well. Even though the U of M is highly rated, it does no good if staff are not suited for their positions. After I complained about some issues to the patient advocate, Miss Tanner called me to offer options I had not previously been given. Not because it was HER JOB, but because (and with the attitude) that someone above her had obviously told her she had to. The staff that are mainly in contact with patients are the ones that make all the difference. I could not put up with poor treatment and partly because of Miss Tanner's attitude, I left to seek care elsewhere.

Sadly, I cannot recommend this clinic. I was referred to them for specialty care. It has been a nightmare - an absolute nightmare. There is no compassion for the patient and no understanding of the pain people are going through and how patients are impacted by kidney disorders. The urologist comes across as a cold, arrogant person who rushes through visits and does not listen to you. I wait over an hour to see him and he spends about 10 minutes with me. It takes days if not weeks to get a reply to a message. I feel like a piece of meat. I dont feel like I am truly seen or heard. I end up in tears each time I have to interact with this clinic to manage my chronic illness. It is just a cold, unfriendly place. I am desperately trying to get a referral to another specialist. The stress of navigating this system an advocating for myself is not conducive to healing. Please go some place else for care if you can do so - you and your loved ones deserve better.

Extremely disappointing support staff, none of whom seem to have any idea what to do and are difficult to communicate with. Many things they told me were wrong, including that I shouldn't use the web portal since "portals are outdated and no one else uses them--call instead." The woman was condescending in that conversation, saying the actual words "I don't mean to be rude but you don't understand how a medical operation works." I've only been to four hospitals and multiple clinics across three states over the past three years, and was married to a nurse. I do know how things work, and this place doesn't. Every other medical group I've dealt with begs patients to use the portal for all non-emergency communication. And other places respond quickly to messages--this place waited eight to 18 days to get back to me, including for when a medication was giving me side effects. Seriously. The doctor was okay but didn't seem to know what was going on with my personal case (repeatedly asking me about things that should have been in my chart) and also gave me information that contradicted with what other doctors had said. This group gives the U of M a bad name in terms of medical capability. Nothing world-class about it.

My prostate surgery took over ten hours plus four hours in recovery. Asked why but no answer. Asked if there was complication and he said no. I certainly hope he didn't have students perform the surgery because the results were not positive. Don't have the surgery on a Friday because that is with his students.
